Well another great music station has passed into history. CHUM 1050 AM Toronto is now a sports station. I guess an end of an era is now closed...For those of you old enough to remember AM radio was the place to listen to all the music that was. FM just wasn't what it is now, and the AM moved the world. If you were in Boston, as I was we had WBZ, WRKO The Big 68...If in New York, WNBC & WABC, In Washington DC WWDC, In Dallas WBAP, Detroit WWYX & CKLW, Minnesota WCCO. On the East Coast at night, For Country Music WWVA and the old Wolfman Jack show on XERF out of Mexico. Now AM radio is nothing but news talk & sports, And FM just doesn't have the personalities to carry the day. Most of the music on radio today is packaged and automated, and the new groups don't really have a chance if they don't get on the "play list". So and end of an era for the old hippie, who kind of feels sad that this is passing by. And hell. half of you may not even know what I am talking about. All this started to die in the 70's, CHUM may have been the last of a dying breed. I almost went ot Toronto Monday to witness this event, from the people I spoke to, who happend to be there I guess it was one Hell of an event, But alas I feel better getting this out.
