Interesting article.

I've found a lot of people don't seem to know about background radiation existing, much less at what levels. Or that food is radioactive, such as bananas. Harmlessly so.

And I didn't know that the EPA limits were set to this ridiculous level.

Face it, there is just too much knowledge in the world for anyone to have all of it in their head.

But this is worth a read, the financial impact from these unrealistic limits is very significant.

Just pleading to raise levels 20 times .
This may or may not be safe but why listen to companies that will save money by any change in safety levels because they cannot be trusted .Just look at the pollution levels from the coal mines in North Carolina .

That is a good one, especially when I hear someone try to pronounce it. Less that 50% success rate. Frivolous, perfunctory, platitude are other good ones....but I fear we're digressing...

Most people would freak out if they walked through their own home with a geiger counter.

I've been in the ct scanner so much lately, I glow in the dark, which is fine I guess.

Most people would freak out if they walked through their own home with a geiger counter.

Or if they realized how much radiation they are exposed to whilst flying.

Not all radiation is equal, but the word itself is emotionally charged (almost radioactive:D).

So we can either go Howard Hughes style and be a recluse and attempt to be germ free, or go ostrich and pretend we don't know what's really out there.

As much radiation as I'm in with my job, a naner or 2 won't make any difference.
