This is appalling: “For his 2018 campaign, King has received contributions from AT&T ($5,000), Berkshire Hathaway ($2,500), the American Bankers Association ($9,000), Land O’Lakes ($2,500), Intel ($2,000), and many others

Say good-bye to funding, Mr. King!

October 30, 2018

"King's regular meetings with the white supremacist group in Austria founded by an SS officer are not new,” the letter said. “But the recent discovery, that King used funds from a Holocaust education organization to meet with a notoriously anti-Semitic propaganda site is shocking beyond any previous outrage."

The Iowa Jewish leaders asked King’s campaign donors to quit giving him money and for Iowans to condemn the congressman's "long promotion of white supremacist ideology."

The latest developments include a demand from the head of the Anti-Defamation League, a New York-based Jewish organization that fights bigotry, that House Speaker Paul Ryan strip King of his chairmanships and censure or otherwise discipline him.

King was rebuked Tuesday by two Iowa Jewish leaders, disavowed by Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Ohio, and abandoned by the National Republican Congressional Committee, which Stivers chairs and which is the House Republicans' campaign arm. In addition, three major U.S. companies announced they will no longer donate campaign money to King.

The latest developments have arisen in the wake of the synagogue massacre but King has repeatedly made statements that critics call racist and extremist. Opponents also highlight King's association with far-right foreign political leaders. He recently endorsed Toronto mayor candidate Faith Goldy, a white nationalist who has claimed Canada is undergoing a “white genocide.”

Hugh Espey, director of the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund, which organized the protest outside the Partnership’s offices, said his group knew of more than 200 calls and emails received in fewer than six hours Wednesday that demanded the congressman's appearance be canceled.

"It's wrong for the Greater Des Moines Partnership to continue with business-as-usual in this moment. This isn't about political difference. This is a moral issue and a wake-up call," Espey said. "Steve King bears some responsibility as a most prominent public figure, propagator and normalizer of white supremacy in this moment.

Don't boycott Land O Lakes. They have pulled their funding.

Unless you're a King supporter, of course. Then you might want to start a boycott.

Purina, Intel, and Land O’ Lakes will not be giving more money to King through their corporate PACs

October 31, 2018

On Monday, as companies such as Land O’ Lakes and Intel said they could no longer support King because of his history of racist remarks, the National Beer Wholesalers Association PAC and Black Hills Corporate PAC each wrote checks to the King campaign.

Update: A spokeswoman for Black Hills, a South Dakota power company, acknowledged the company’s PAC had donated by said it “will no longer do so because of recent statements which conflict with our company values.”

None of King’s biggest corporate or trade group backers have pulled back either. Neither the American Bankers Association, which has given King $77,500 over the course of his career and $9,000 this election, nor AT&T, which has given King $59,000 in his career and $5,000 so far this election, have said they would cut King off.
