I see this acronym with some frequency on Literotica, in the comments. I assume from context that it means the opposite of burn the bitch (BTB). Could someone, however, please tell me what the acronym actually stands for? I assume the users of the acronym are not referring to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps, which is a top choice from Google.

Thanks in advance, JB Edwards

Reconciliation at all cost.

Yep, pretty much the opposite of BTB.

Thank you both, NotWise and Melissa Baby. I wish Melissa Baby were right, I think NotWise hit it on the nose! I appreciate it. ~~ JB

RAAC is one of the popular subcategories of LW, which is a weird brew of different subcategories featuring more mutual animosity than any other category.

As far as I can tell (people can correct me if I've left something out), Loving Wives comprises the following main subcategories of stories:

1. Cuckold stories -- the wife cheats and gets away with it, and an element of the story is the husband's humiliation. These subdivide further into two sub-sub categories: in one, the husband doesn't know and is devastated, but he isn't able to do anything about it, and in the second, the husband craves humiliation and derives erotic satisfaction from being humiliated.

2. Stag/vixen hotwife stories -- the wife has sex outside marriage with the husband's approval and consent, and sometimes at his direction, and the husband isn't humiliated and his wife doesn't want to humiliate him. In fact, in some of these stories husband and wife have a dom/sub relationship and the husband persuades his wife to adopt the "hotwife" lifestyle.

3. RAAC -- the wife cheats, and the husband is hurt, but he wants to keep the marriage alive, and they end up together at the end of the story.

4. BTB -- the wife cheats, and the husband gets his revenge against her. Sometimes the revenge is fairly mild, or just legal or economic, and sometimes it's totally over the top, like a Charles Bronson/Death Wish kind of revenge.

5. Husband-Wife sex stories. These do exist, and they are more common than one would think given all the controversy about the other 4 types.

From what I can tell, there is a substantial audience for all 5 types of stories, but this fact is often drowned out by the noise created by the BTB readership, which loathes and down-votes stories in categories 1, 2, and 3.

Category #6 would be consensual polyamory with a husband and wife. It is rarely seen in the LW section and is routinely trashed by the BTB crowd.

I would say there are two, maybe three, different categories in #1 -

One where the husband hasn't clue that his wife is cheating on him.

Two where she is cheating on him and he knows yet she doesn't humiliate him, yet isn't very happy she is.

Three she cheats, he gets humiliated and caged, never to have sex again.

Personally, I write BTB, RAAC and the Stag/Vixen stories. I don't do any form of cuckolding story.

My favorite sub category is stag/vixen. I sometimes have critical things to say about the BTB mentality, but some of those stories are actually quite well written. There are some good authors who write them.

But I'm with you on the cuckold thing. The entire genre of men seeking humiliation has no appeal to me, but it fascinates me. It is, as far as I can tell, extremely common and popular. There's a huge audience of men who have this fantasy and who want stories that play to it. I'd like to learn more about the psychology underlying it.

RAAC may be the most realistic of the subcategories, but it's not edgy enough for me. Too nice.

Transcending fantasy here... my wife and I don't play the local swinger scene, but we "know folks". There's one interesting couple very much into the cuckolding thing, so much so that it's common knowledge in the community in general.

The psychology in their case in my lay estimation has to be powerful people relinquishing power, which I'm sure is a repeated theme in cuckold stories. He is a recently retired Superior Court judge, a very well-respected one at that. We were peers on a civic panel, and I experienced his "death stare" on a couple of occasions that I am certain brought more than a few attorneys to their knees. He was a very powerful big fish in our small pond.

For their bedroom, they (from what we understand) solicited men from the broader community to have his wife. She was and is attractive, for sure, and, frankly, I was targeted by her shortly after we moved here. I didn't need that reputation in our new town, so I politely demurred.

So I don't know their exact style of cuckoldry, but knowing the couple I would not be the least bit surprised if he preferred caged or bound, i.e. rendered powerless.

I don't care to read or write cuckold stories - not my cup o' tea - but real life in this case would make for a doozy!

By number 5. Husband-wife sex stories, I assume you mean swingers (both consensual in allowing the activities), because LW is about "Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more." If it's just the two of them, it wouldn't be a LW story.

The comments on such swinger stories are mostly negative, with the trolls always insisting any husband allowing his wife to have sex with another guy is a cuckhold (thus insisting it falls in #1). They also believe the stag/vixen stories are the same cuckhold.

There are other scenarios you might envision for your judge friend:

--They might be into MFM threesomes, in which she wants/needs two at a time.
--He might have his eye on the other guys in more of an MMF case, with his own Bi leaning, and not really coming out but looking for opportunities.

Or -- he might be impotent, and looking to exert control over her satisfaction by at least controlling the scenario and partners.

I only wrote BTB stories to see how they would be received. The did quiet well. I usually prefer to write RAAC stores but love to right Stag/Vixen stories the most.

I actually don't get why a man would want to be subjected to the humiliation that most cuckold stories do to them. I wasn't brought up to be a wimp. And I would be damned if I let a woman walk all over me. Then again, I wouldn't try to dominate a woman. I have always felt the it was a partnership between two people who just like to things a little different, but no humiliation.

I don't know what has happened to the male species that they now allow women to humiliate them. Although I guess it's happened in the past.

Actually, I think he means were the husband and wife are just happy with each other and show each other just how happy they are.

The definition of the LW category is/has been ignored for a long time. Hence the BTB stories which really violates the definition.

I have read several stories where there was no extra marital fun by either party.

I'm not a psychologist or sociologist, so this is just my on-the-fly speculation.

I think people are wired far more differently than conventional thinking accounts for, and that differences in upbringing widen those differences even more. People respond very differently to the expectations that are on them. Some men eagerly embrace the expectations of what it means to be a man. Some men go along with them, willingly if not always eagerly. And some men rebel. Maybe not openly, but in their fantasy lives. "Being a man" creates a form of anxiety, for some men, and fantasizing about letting all those expectations go and being submissive and subject to humiliation is, in its own way, liberating. It may be a form of release and relief. But for some others, it's extremely threatening to imagine that we could act contrary to the expectations put on us without negative consequences. That's what accounts, in part, for the extraordinary hostility to cuck stories.

I suspect in one way or another it's always been this way. It's not new. It's just that in the modern world people are freer to express themselves sexually than they were before.

I'll add one wrinkle to that: I think the relatively rapid change in the status of women over the last century has had an enormous and varied impact on men. Some continue to be threatened by it; others embrace it; still others are puzzled and wondering where this is all headed.

That's one of the best categories, I enjoy it. But if you look at some of the comments on those stories, the incel crowd goes beserk, and you'll see a lot of BTB type comments there.

I agree with you on this. It's just, well, I guess what you see on the outside isn't always the way it is behind closed doors.

Here's my feeling on Incels... They had the perfect woman in their life but couldn't keep her. For whatever reason, she left, cheated, started to treat him like a dog... he was surprised when she handed him divorce papers. And now that he has to pay her a huge alimony check each month he's pissed off at anyone and anything that reminds him, he could have kept her if he had just listened.
