R.I.P. Shock G of Digital Underground (8/25/63-4/22/21)

Most people don’t even know shock G and Humpty are the same person. Was actually listening to freaks of the Industry yesterday.

RIP

Didn't see this one coming; cue the cliche "now I feel old". "Humpty Dance" was an epic song for my generation.

God dammit. I got to see Digital Underground at the Howlin' Wolf in NOLA. One of my top 5 shows of all time. They were handing out gifts and drinks... maybe a third of the set was Humpty and the rest was all Shock G. For those do not know he was a talented pianist. The crowd stayed hyped even after Humpty was done, more hyped even for Shock G himself. He was loving that NOLA crowd, man. We loved him too. He told us he vowed to come back and bring a Grand Piano with him next time. I hope he did. RIP.

Guess he hit someone and death hit him back.

Can’t remember if I had that on cassette or moved to CD by then.

I remember that jam!

The Humpty Dance is your chance to do the hump
Do the Humpty Hump, come on and do the Humpty Hump
Do the Humpty Hump, just watch me do the Humpty Hump
Do ya know what I'm doin', doin' the Humpty Hump
Do the Humpty Hump, do the Humpty Hump

So much of the 90s Hip Hop focused on funk beats, unlike today's mumble rap bullshit.

RIP!

Am listening to ice Cube - Kill at Will. On the joint "I gotta Say What Up!!" Cube says, "Humpty Hump, making more than Donald Trump!"

This was in 1990.
