He was a man who knew how to serve his country.

President Obama had this to say...

"Over the course of his long and distinguished career, Sarge came to embody the idea of public service. . . His loss will be felt in all of the communities around the world that have been touched by Peace Corps volunteers."

He was a great man who had no great flaws. The world is a poorer place without him and his amazing vision. He was married to Eunice Kennedy Shriver who was also an amazing person - probably the inspiration for some of his amazing accomplishments: the Peace Corps, Volunteers in Service to America, Head Start.....

The Peace Corps, thank you Sargent Shriver, reminds me of one of my favorite novels: Don Quixote USA by Richard Powell which has a Peace Corps volunteer as the action hero.
