R.I.P. Ruth Rendell

I've read Live Flesh and Talking To Strange Men, and liked both. Funny that I don't think I've ever read any of her Wexford novels.

By the way, Google listed her age at death as 85, not 91.

You're right. 85. I had P.D. James in mind--who also died recently and was close to Rendell both personally and in genre.

Yeah, two great writers gone. But they both left a lot to be remembered by.

I don't think either of them wrote a single story on Lit. Parasitic drones, the pair of them.

She used to use the name Barbara Vine for her great non-Wexford novels.

She put all her writing under the name Ruth Rendell but it is a tad eclectic. Wexford is a great detective but also highlights his family life. More than usual.

You have all missed the death of Reginald Hill, to my mind the best UK detective writer. For non-crime stories try, 'There are no ghosts in the Soviet Union. Exquisite
