Maurice White (December 19, 1941 – February 4, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, arranger and bandleader. He was the founder of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. He was also the older brother of current Earth, Wind & Fire member Verdine White, and former member Fred White. Maurice served as the band's main songwriter and record producer, and was co-lead singer (along with Philip Bailey). White won seven Grammys, and was nominated for 21 Grammys in total.

White was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire, and was also individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Also known by his nickname Reese, he worked with several famous recording artists such as Deniece Williams, The Emotions, Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond.

White was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in the late 1980s, which led him to eventually stop touring with Earth, Wind & Fire in 1994. However, White retained executive control of the band, and remained active in the music business.

Wow, February is picking up where January left off.:(

Saw EWF at a casino three years ago still sounded damn good and looked like theu were having a blast.

Always making these threads for motherfuckers who don't even know you.

Many 70s-80s groovin' memories are because of them. Those costumes! Good times were had by me.

Weirdly enough, my sister said the last time she saw them was at a casino too.

The casinos are a great circuit for the old bands. Its usually an older audience so its great nostalgia while they're drinking and gambling. I saw them at Twin Rivers in RI which is very small so it was a good up close set. They have a ton of energy even now.

They got around town, this was in Cali. She said they put on a great show.

Man, this sucks!

Wasn't an under-the-stereo record cabinet (remember those?) in any of my older relatives' houses that didn't have at least five EW&F albums. You grew up listening to this and absorbing the soul into your cells whether you liked it or not. :D

The Reaper is not being kind to the classic acts this year.

If you die,do you think that same musical icon would give a fuck? So why do you?

Because they are a part of music history and their talent should be appreciated and honored.
You are from Newark? Didn't your city close down for a day, with a 5 hour funeral for Whitney Houston? BTW the longest funeral I ever have witnessed in my life.

No my city didn't close down. Nobody gives a fuck about no fucking Whitney Houston. People die in my city everyday, people that I actually interact with. Think I'm supposed to give a fuck about someone I don't even know? Nah

My father still has his old stereo in the basement, the one that was pretty much a piece of furniture. Anyone who was a kid-or older-in the 70's knows what I mean

It was a long cabinet and the top lifted to show off the turn table, cool Am/fm tuner radio and 8 track player along with a place for the albums and tapes.

Between than and the swiveling floor model RCA TV, my pops was living large!
