I heard this on the radio during my evening commute. His Col. Potter character was one of my favorites on M*A*S*H. He had that home-spun sense of outrage with war that I can relate to.

Godspeed, Harry. :rose:

It's always fun to watch an old movie and see him in there. But we'll all miss Col. Potter.

I recall some of his movies with amusement.
"Support your local Sheriff" (with James Garner), as the Town Mayor (and Patience's long-suffering father)
"What did you do in the War, Daddy" (with Dick Shawn). The site of him wandering out of the Roman Catacomb singing as if drunk was a gem).

And that 1960 film with Spencer Tracy: "Inherit the Wind" as the Judge.

I'm pretty sure God can find a supporting role for him. . . .

Shocked...

Wow...I used to watch M*A*S*H just to watch his performance...and yes, Support Your Local Sheriff is a classic; I used to think that would have been a fun movie to be in, everyone looked so much like they were enjoying themselves. His character stood out in a crowd of very talented co-stars. You'll be missed, Harry Morgan...

I'm probably the only person old enough around here to remember watching Harry Morgan in the early days of TV on the show "December Bride" and later with Jack Webb on "Dragnet". He was one of the great character actors of modern media, and I don't think he ever got the recognition as such that he deserved. He could do drama, but he was even better in making you laugh without even looking like he was supposed to be funny.
