Dennis Hopper, the maverick director and costar of the landmark 1969 counterculture film classic "Easy Rider" whose drug- and alcohol-fueled reputation as a Hollywood bad boy preceded his return to sobriety and a career resurgence in the films " Hoosiers" and "Blue Velvet," died Saturday. He was 74.

...In a more than five-decade acting career that was influenced early on by working with James Dean and studying at the Actors Studio, he made his film debut as one of the high school gang members who menace Dean in the 1955 classic "Rebel Without a Cause."

Bye Dennis :rose:

Ya it sux Dennis is dead, loved that movie My Science Project and i thought he was a pretty good bad guy in Speed.

But oh well, cant beat the clock man, r.i.p.

Thank you 3. I considered posting it, but decided to wait for you.

Thanks for all the movies, Mr. Hopper. :rose:

True enough, and 74 is very respectable given his history; I think most people were expecting to see his obituary back in the 70's. Thinking about it, he really beat the odds (and by that I mean odds he created himself) both in longevity and in restoring his career.

Dennis was one cool dude. His bod lasted quite a while considering the abuse it took.

Requiescat in pace Billy. :rose:

I was really enjoying his character in the cable show Crash on DVD. I'm assuming he was in the second season, which I haven't seen yet, since I don't have cable. I think that series featured some of his best work.

I also really liked this scene from the movie True Romance, where Christopher Walken, as a Sicilian mobster, is prepared to torture him to death to find out where is son is located. Of course, the Dennis Hopper character - a humble night watchman - figures out a way to outsmart the mobster. (violent content  )
