quiz: vintage sex slang

Got 7 of 10. Not up on Victorian slang. Had forgotten about Key Parties. My surburban neighborhood in my teen years was rumored to hos them. Seemed ludicrious then, but now...maybe those randy old goats (younger than I am now) were... Hmm.

I got a 10. I would like to add two items:

1) A sock hop is an informal dance held in an American gym. The wood floors in a gym are not to be walked on with street shoes [execution without trial!]. Thus, the attendees would take off their street shoes and dance in their socks.

2) The term "hooker" is a Civil War expression. A General named Hooker always made sure his guys had whores. The whores came to be called "hooker's Batallions." The term then gradually became just hooker.

Missed strumpet.

Learn something new every day. :)

I had nine. I missed on "good natured" in favor of "rum punch". I guessed on "strumpet" over "tart". The rest I knew or could easily guess.

I would take some exception with some of the answers. I believe a gay man would have been called a "nance", which would have been short for Nancy. A condom is sometimes called a "French envelope". A "sex worker", to use the euphesm they do, would ask men if they wanted "a date". At least that's what they used to ask me. :D

We're not really giving away our age because none of us, not even I, were around during Victorian times.
