Desert Rose and I are doing a meditation book together. The book is called: 8 Minute Meditation by Victor Davich. I've attempted the book twice and have quit around the 5th week but now that I have a buddy maybe I can get to the end.

If anyone else wants to join in then get the book. I've said before that those 8 minutes are sometimes the best 8 of the day. The book covers 8 weeks. After that you start adding a few minutes. But 8 isn't much no matter how busy you are.

Good luck to both of you getting through it....mediatation is certainly worth taking the time to do.

I learned Zen meditation years ago and it is a great tool.

All the best to you both.

I'd like to join you. I've always wanted to try it and the book got great reviews on Amazon. Thanks for the referral!

I'm ordering it now, but you guys go on ahead. I'll catch up to you. :nana:

Hopefully we can graduate and move beyond the book. So if anyone wants to join at any time it's fine.

So... are we starting today or are you hurting too much?

I have to go to bed soon for work tonight.

I started taking yoga classes this spring and I have been including mediation in the final relaxation phase at least 3-4 times a week. I hope to increase it to 7x a week. It is a great thing.

I need one of those zen alarms or something. My alarm was quite shocking. Probably lost the benefit of the 8 minutes of peace.

Meditation keeps me sane.

It has helped me a great deal.

I am very glad you and ADR have found a way to do this together.
Apart from peace of mind I have seen studies which show people cope with life issues better if they meditate.

If I can find the links I will post them for you, been a while since I looked at them

There was a lot of chatter in my head today. And then I almost fell asleep. Rose said she had some problems as well. It gets better with practice.

Sleeping is not that uncommon, it shows you are relaxed.

Quieting the chatter can be hard.

Sometimes Imagine all of it parcelled up and floating off on the string of a helium balloon. It doesn't always work, but now and then it does the trick

I had too much thinking going on related to this week at work. I think you're right and it will be easier and I think, easier on some days than on others.

WriterDom and I were thinking of this very same marketing idea!!! Watch for us on eBay.

;-D

Damn phone rang today. Guess I'll have to take it off the hook for 8 minutes from now on.

That has to be annoying!

I tried it for the first time this morning as soon as I got out of bed. I think that may be a really good time for me, since my mind hasn't had a chance to get revved up yet. Of course, I could have just had a quiet mind because of the weekend. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I found some of the techniques in the later weeks to be more effective. Or maybe it was just because of the practice. It's nice to be able to move on to something new after a week.
