So, I'll be in London tomorrow for a work thingy, a suit-and-tie (bleah!) meeting thingy in the afternoon and a press-junket-with-cocktails thingy in the evening, and I need to get two things sorted out quicly as soon as I've squeezed my way though the passport check.

1) One of those mobile broadband thingys. I'm gonna need one, since I'm expected to work and deliver news on-the-fly. I've read up on it online, and it seems at least O2 and T-mobile have out-of-the-box ready modems with prepaid sims that would be about right for me. But it doesn't say where I can buy 'em. Here, I can pick one up at any 7/11 and be up and running in five minutes. Is it as easy in the UK, or do I need to find a phone store, sign up to a service and wait a day or two for activation?

2) A shirt, a jacket and an effin' tie. Preferrably slightly up market. Those few here who've met me in person, know I'm the epitome of "casual". And those events I have to attend are the opposite of that. Posh posing for shllow people. But I can play along if I have to. I do have formal shit to wear, but I rummaged thorugh my closet, and realized that everything remotely fancy was due for a dry-cleaning. I need a place where I can walk in, yell "Suit me up, bitches!" and walk out twenty minutes later with a suitably fashionable wrapping. Probably not a huge problem, but any tips on where I can buy some good taste fast, would be appreciated.

1. Telephone shops - most High Streets
2. Marks and Spencer provide reasonable formal ready-to-wear.

You do not say where abouts in london you will be so my answers are abit generic.
1) the best deal you can get straight from the box is "3 mobile" it has the best coverage of all networks,Avalible from any electrical or phone outlet. But if your laptop is Wi-Fi enabled you will find free wifi in most places these days, therefore not needing to buy a usb mobile stick.

2)M&S is ok but they only have a store on Oxford street. moss Bros will allow you to hire a outfit which might be of use to you or try debenhams or selfridges depending on your wanted outlay.

If you would like more specific help feel free to give me more details as to where you will be roughly in london and i will be happy to help you more

I think I'm gonna have to have one just in case, I'll be moving about quite a lot. 3 has a payment plan on their mobile broadband that doesn't sit well with an infrequent visitor to the UK. But as long as it works immediately, anything will do.

Where abouts is everywhere abouts. First meeting in a Canary Wharf office (about three hours from when I'm out of Heathrow, that's my window of opportunity), another meeting that I forgot about in Kensigton-ish, the press thing...uh...somewhere south, I'm getting cabbed from the hotel, which is in Acton for some reason. Which doesn't have Wifi. I checked.

Given the alloted time i would recommend Westfield shopping centre in Shepards Bush about 2 miles from Acton. It has both "3" and O2 shops also vodafone and t-mobile.
I suggest 3 earlier because i imagined it did best what you needed it for

As for the clothes you have plenty of choice here but i would suggest "suits you"
hope this is of some use
