You're right.
It sounds silly.

FWIW, I used to work for a research firm that did high-quality work for clients who paid mid-five-figures for access to the research and consulting support. I'd get a few calls a month from someone claiming to be a 'grad student working on a project' wanting information for free.

Is there a course somewhere about 'how to be a weasel'?
