quick question about my ignore list

If I have someone on my ignore list and they try and send me another PM, what happens to it? Do they know I put them on my ignore list or does it just not get delivered to me and I, of course, never respond to it?

IIRC, it just doesn't get delivered, so you never see it and never respond. At most, it might tell them the PM can't be delivered, but I know it doesn't tell them they're on your iggy list.

Is the ignore list just for PMs or would it block a person's posts on the board to me?

If these forums function the same way as other boards I've been to, when a person that's on your ignore list posts you only see a narrow bar that indicates that that person has posted, and gives you an option of viewing their message. You can just scroll past it though, and don't have to view it.

Yup. Here at Lit, it says, "This message is hidden because Quoll is on your ignore list." *waves at Quoll*

And when that person starts a thread, it's like the thread doesn't even exist for you.

Because some people are quite insistent. So I put them on my ignore list. Takes me 2 seconds and then I don't have to be bothered by them at all. contrary to many wanker's beliefs, many of us are not on this site for cyber sex, trading pics or just chatting with a random horny guy who wants to.

Exactly.

When I first came to Lit, I thought the ignore list was for pussies, but after a couple of years of hanging around this place, I started to believe otherwise. Sometimes there's a limit as to how long you can mentally ignore someone. It's easier when it's just a dumbass who's posting on the boards, though I've occasionally let people get under my skin way more than they should have. When you're getting bothered by unwelcome PM's, though, that's another matter.

I've iggied spammers, people who post graphic images (dead bodies, aborted fetuses, etc), persistent PM'ers, and people who just plain annoyed me for a variety of reasons. I know that some people will put other posters on ignore because of annoying avatars and sigs, but I just turn them off so I don't have to expand my ignore list any faster than it currently gets expanded.

It still takes a lot for someone to make my ignore list, but I'm glad I decided that putting someone on ignore didn't make me a wuss!

I don't have many on my iggy list, but then again I'm not female and not a target of the leg humper brigade.
Last month I started iggying people for being stupid, I had to delete my iggy list in the end, it was just too boring with only a dozen or so people here.

Because you don't see the thirty threads some jerk started on the first page and don't have to dig out the ten other threads from the muck-pile to figure out if they're interesting.

Because that one thread with the title a screen and a half wide doesn't distort the forum index once you put the idiot on ignore.

Because I choose not to allow inconsiderate idiots into my living room where I have to pretend they don't exist.

Tested it on the AH a couple of weeks ago. You don't get the PM and they never know you didn't get it.
