I have written quite a few stories over the last four months which I have put on Literotica. I have written in various categories (Incest, Non Consent, Romance, Erotic, Group, Exhibitionism) and I see an incredible difference in the number of views I get from story to story. I wonder if anyone can answer any of the following questions I have.

Questions

- What is the average number of views for a story, is there somewhere on Literotica I can go to see how many views a story has had (not one of my own)?

- Does Literotica publish statistics (quarterly, yearly?) on how many views an average story gets?

- Are there statistics published that break down the average number of views per story on a category basis? i.e. Do Romance stories get more average views than Group Sex stories etc.?

- Do stories get more views depending on what day of the week they are released?

- How is the order of stories on that days release list decided? Is it completely random, or is some other system used? It seems to me some categories are often first (i.e. Text with Audio, Illustrated) while others are often last (Non Consent).

- Some author’s new stories are almost always at the top of the daily list. Does Literotica have a system whereby certain people are favored? If so what is the basis of this favoritism? i.e. is it due to a history of past top stories, or large output, or past prize winners, etc.

- Why is it that when you’re reading a story over half the screen is taken up by Literotica logos? It would be much easier to read the stories if the type was larger and more of the screen was utilized for the writing.

- Finally is there someone on the Literotica staff that I can direct questions like these to (who and how) who is likely to respond to me?

I’m looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help me on any of these questions.
Thanks,

I've no idea except for the last - a PM to Laurel never hurts :rose:

And welcome to the AH! :)

Hi scouries,

Welcome to the AH! Weird Harold is the Answer Man but I'll try a few until he gets here. ;)

Top Lists - they have a most viewed stories option, I think.

I've never seen any.

You could probably use the top list most viewed stories as a very, very general guideline. Although remember, some of those stories views are exaggerated because they have been linked off-site. Check the AH for threads on this topic; there are lots of theories out there about which category offers the best hits/votes/feedback.

IMO, yes.

Don't have a clue.

Some authors have a following and some authors probably cheat. Lit should be unbiased, and that has been my personal experience, though others may disagree.

Not sure. Advertising, maybe?

What Min said, but you might not get a response. Don't take it personally. ;)

Much luck!

Additionally, be careful with Fetish and BSDM stuff....those folks get vicious when it comes to voting and reviews. Those three groups also seem to attract the most trolls as well....trolls being people who will give you 1's just because they're dicks.

hello and welcome scouries

As has been mentioned a private message sent to Laurel can't hurt, she's good with questions :)

On the format of stories, I think it's a formatting thing, now if my husband were awake I'd ask him, as he's told me why they do it before and I'm certain it's because it is easier to read that way, a whole long line of text from one side of a screen to the other is hard to keep track of.

Otherwise I'm pretty clueless :D
