Hello, fellow members, I have been browsing this site for a few years now with limited interest and it wasn't until recently that I really began to get into it. I want to write a story, but there are a few questions that I have that are not outlined in the FAQ (as far as I could tell).

I have read a number of stories from various categories and there seems to be certain things that are almost never used. No real violence in the non consent section which kind of has me thinking; is this an unwritten rule? Not to post violence in a violent setting?

Another is the use of drugs. Not that I am saying that I am going to write stories of sex and drugs, but they do go together on alot of fronts, don't you think? High society New York club goers, Hollywood actor parties, etc. Is there only a tolerance for weed and not other drugs? I have not seen any examples of drug use so I wanted to know about that.

Currently I am working on a few submissions, but I want to get some of the rules clear before I finish. Obviously child porn and beastiality is out. Those are no brainers. Some of the others don't seem to be obvious, at least to me, yet I figure that some of the veterans on this site could have some of the answers to the "unwritten" rules.

I think that is all for now. Thanks in advance to those that are able to help me get started on this site. I look forward to your comments.

Welcome :rose:

I've never had a problem incorporating drugs into my stories, and it hasn't just been weed either.

The issue of violence is discussed inversely in this post.

It discusses reasons that a story might be rejected...

Here is an excerpt:

Was there excessive violence, snuff, or abuse of characters in your story?

Your story was too extreme for our guidelines. These judgments are subjective, and thus we can't give an exact definition of what exactly is "too much". Certain "violence" in a BDSM situation between consenting adults may be allowed, while the same "violence" between strangers in a non-consentual situation will not. Tone and respect for characters, as well as the "violent" scene within the context of the story, are what we make our judgments upon. If your story is rejected for this, feel free to send the story back with a polite request for an explanation and we will tell you why it was rejected. If you disagree with our assessment, you are more than welcome to publish your story elsewhere rather than alter it to our guidelines. We respect your rights as authors to write on whatever you like, however you like.

Thanks you for your replies. I don't think I will have any problems with the violent setting that I had in mind in the non consent category. It's not like I am going to have anyone decapitated or anything so I think I might get it to work. All I have to do is make sure that I don't go over a slight concussion or something.. : )

Welcome to the forum may you prosper and multiply, or whatever Dr. Spock(pun) said.

It is late and I am snockered and maybe need to rant, dunno, but you will sooner or late run across me, I imagine.

Write about anything you want...but drugs and violence... both a lose/lose scenario.

Most Litsters don't know much about me, but as a cub reporter, I hung out in copshops for a lot of years...I know of which I speak and you don't wanna know what I know about the drug culture. And the LA and NY scene, been there done that and you don't wanna know about the gangsters, mostly black nowadays and the cartels and the politics and the pimps and the prostitutes and the cabbies, you really don't wanna know...but that is the base for drug traffic...users....are of importance only because they are buyers and can be snuffed at a moments notice.

And violence...Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll, probably a passe' cliche now, but still, if you have something you need to write about...write it, get it out and done.

But drugs and violence, hell, man, most of the people here are tree hugging, whale saving environmentalists, pacifists to the death, you think they worship brutal events?

Do what you want, of course, and the best of luck to you.

It's way late and I wish I were snockered, that's my excuse, but I'm getting one hell of giggle out of trying to imagine that there could be an erotic aspect to decapitation... :)

Well I suppose if the decapitation were due to some outlandish sexual deviation that went wrong, it could make one smile dear... maybe large insertions to the extreme and like with "Slack Alice" it proved to have teeth in it

Quite so ami...

Write about real, real life situations TLM and you'll be damned to hell and back... Lit will tollerate a certain amount of violence and or deviation from the "rule of thumb porno fantasy world"... But not too much... Don't blame the site admin, they are only covering their arse when they draw a line which thou shalt not cross in your fictional ramblings...

In the real world of publishing and film/stage, you could write what the fuck you wanted and make it as real as you wanted, that is covered by freedom of speech... However, here you are bound by "Pornography" laws and regulations and they say, no extreme, no wild drug induced rape or violence, and most of all... No one is born before their 18th birthday.

hrm... got me thinking.
i have two stories currently posted about murder. one is pretty erm... well, graphic? it was not thrashingly violent, however. i think you have to walk a very careful line.

Apparantly you do, and the line's unclear. I had a story called Horror rejected and I'm still not clear exactly why. I got the rejection notice posted earlier here, but that's generic. I posted it on storiesonline and you may be able to see a few paragraphs with this link.

http://storiesonline.net/story/51535

It's about a man who goes mad and kills his family in their sleep with a sword - doesn't get graphic at all. It mentions child sexual abuse having occurred in the past, again no details. A couple other things go on as well. I asked, but never got clarification where it crossed Lit's line.

one of my EH stories is fairly graphic at the end, but there was no problem getting it accepted.

If there's blood/gore/violence that is depicted for sexual gratification, I think they'll reject the story. Also, if it's gratuitous - serves no real purpose, doesn't move the story along, etc. - I think they'll reject it for that, as well.

No drug induced or violent rape scenes? When the hell did people start to "allow" rape? That almost cuts into one of my story! Eh, I will write it anyway and if it gets rejected it will get rejected : )

On a serious note, that scene will be chapter 7 or so. Hopefully by that time I would have established a clear storyline that would need that chapter. We will see.

How about necrophilia? Is that another one of the literotica taboo things that can easily be dismissed under the "fantasy" category? There seem to be many iffy things.

Don't get me wrong, I know I will get my fair share of bad reviews (this is in response to Amicus) I will write what I want to, but I want to be able to write it with minimum editing as to not compromise the integrity of the story so if violence is out of the question, I would have to narrow it down to a slap or a hard punch to the face or something like that.

Oh and thanks again for all the replies. I don't know how much to thank you guys. I already feel at home and I have not posted my first chapter!

There a series of three stories written back in 2001 or 2002 where the "perp" was feeding drugs to women to make them plyable for sex. There was another story that went along the lines of Love Potion number 9. In fact, I wrote a similar story years ago, but never posted it on Lit. To my rememberance, these stories were not received very well by the readers.

Violence is a tough thing. Where does violence end and snuff begin? All the stories I have seen that used violence in non-consent were not liked very well.

Hope that answers your question. Welcum to Lit, dude. :)

It seems most of the rape stories that are well received are very much rape fantasy - she says no, but she really means yes type stuff; or she says no but her body says yes.
I haven't read any from the rapist point of view (that's not to say there aren't any here, I haven't read a whole lot from that category).

I disagree, Starrkers... I don't think any rape story is really well accepted. It's the non-consent stories that do well in that catagory.

Hmmm... Zombie fuck... that works for me... but I'm strange, of course :D

I've written only one rape story, and it was pretty graphic and violent. It was accepted, but the woman was actually a ghost, and the rapist was killed at the end. I had one MM rape story, but the man turned out to like it. I have a few stories where men and women role play a rape scene, but I make it very clear that it is all in fun, and nobody gets hurt.

I have a few NC stories about coercion, but the coerced person always enjoys it, and a relationship is formed, with the two of them getting together for fun sex in later chapters. :D

I had an EH story where a character was eaten alive.

And another where characters were put in a grinder.

Just make your characters over 18.

And try not to make the sexual gratification a direct result of killing and you should do fine.

Welcome to Lit, BTW. :)

I've read several stories where hard drugs were used, so there's one more precedent for you... :)
