Questions about submitting an edited story

I recently submitted edits for two chapters. I'm pretty sure I followed the protocol for submitting an edit (placing EDIT at the end of the title and including a note in the notes field), but I have encountered a couple of problems.

First, I wanted to replace both the text and the title of one story. In addition to making changes to the text, I left off the ch. 01 from the first version and wanted to fix my mistake. I submitted the edit on Thursday, and have been checking my "view submissions" page (but not clicking on the pending button!) for a few days. I noticed today that my edit was no longer listed, but the old version and title are still showing up on my stories page. Any idea why my submission for an edit disappeared without actually replacing the original story (text or title)? What I should do now?

Second, there is a maximum number of characters for a title. The title of my chapter two (which includes a Ch. 02) bumps up against that max, so I can't actually type in the title and the word edit. I ended up removing all the spaces between the words to squeeze in the word edit, but I'm a bit worried about this approach. Has anyone else run into this?

My apologies if these questions have been addressed elsewhere. I couldn't find answers in the FAQ, and my search of this forum didn't help.

My last edit actually took a few hours to take hold. I'm not sure why, as it used to be instantaneous.

Give it a few hours and check back. Everything should be as you requested.

I have submitted edited stories several times, and it usually takes as long to post as a new story, at least in my experience. As for changing the title, lotsa luck. When I have tried to do that, I have been as likely as not to end up with the story listed twice, once under either title.

As in category, Lit. can and does change what the author suggests as a title, although the change is usually not very major.

Not the question asked, Box.

The usual waiting from submission to approval has passed. The "edit" version of the submission has vanished from the author submission list. The story remains as it was before the edit was submitted, though.

For some reason, in recent days, edits don't appear on the site until several hours after the edits are approved. It used to be that as soon as the "edited" submission vanished, the story/chapter reflected the changes immediately. That is no longer the case.

On the too many characters part of your question. This happened to me and if you put in the authors note that it is chapter 2 and 3 and so on they will fix it for you. Now you actually have to do this because if not they will reject the story saying you have two with the same title (this happened to me) and obviously you don;t want to change names on every chapter.

Thanks y'all. The old version is still there (it's been about 7 hours or so), but the link has changed to include the ch. 01. Fingers crossed!

I don't know exactly how long it took mine to actually change. I put the edit in while submissions for a contest were going on, so I expected a delay in posting. I finally got around to checking, saw the "edited" version gone, and went to check the changes. Noticed nothing had changed, but decided to wait it out, and it was changed by the next day.
