In a flood of e-mails this morn, I received one this morning that sparked thoughts that came from a feedback a few months back and then again a few weeks ago.

Favorites list;

do you use this option? I am informed and or seeing more and more questioning why I do not use this option. It is new (added last spring / summer) and I did not display my favorites, some want to know what they are. Is this the majorities opinion? Do you use this option as a guide?

Top list;

is there a list of lit authors other than the top list? The most read story/poems and top rated stories/poems? I was refereed to as being on a list with several other names mentioned, though I don't see the list they speak of? I think I do recall a list of writers that lists 250 lit authors, where is this list?

I thought this option was there for about 2 years now. I think I know what you're talking about. You're able to add someone to your favorites but what does it actually do? I mean, you can add people, but I would think you'd be able to just remember them. When I was an fanstory.com, we could add our favorites and everytime they posted a new poem, you'd get an email stating so, and you'd be one of the firsts to read and review. I would love for something like this here on Lit.

I saw a list of people the other day being in the most read poems. I think you were listed twice. Is this what you're talking about? If so, I can go find the link again.

Thanks saldne, I saw this list and the other for ratings, but there seems to be another list that I was told of and can't seem to find it. The anon (polite and encouraging) didn't leave a name or an e-mail so I searched/ searching and figured some one here may know of it.

I thought the favs addition was added, I recall when it was set into our submissions page. Or a finger was pointed to its addition to the submission page. That may be, I assume I should create a FAVs list.

Edit: I just checked again. I clicked on your name which led me to your profile. I then went to favorites on your profile and it listed those who added you. That's cool!

Yep. Sadly, it will also give you everyone who have either registered on the forum or registered an account to vote and comment. Which means only a fraction of them are authors (or poets).

A list that filtered out all who have not submitted stuff would be nice...

liar, jim ... you both are on this list as well, it is those who have been placed on others favorites page. But I note the top fifty poems on members favorite list as well, "Cherokee Rose" has several, as does Lauren. and I thought I saw a poem by jim as well.

yes, i use the favorites list, and i look at the authors who are my favorites lists to see if they know a good writere that i have yet to discover... if i like the work of the favorites list holder, then i will probably like the writers they enjoy as well!

as a writer it is also nice to see how many reader/writers favorites list you have been placed on...

and on the upside of the favorites list for me....
as a busy writer i read fewer authors everyday...
can't read everyone and write too...
so my favorites list of writer friends and writers that i admire are an easy way to click the link and find their lists and then scroll for the N's each week so i don't miss any of their new things...

Its not a who's who for me. I just use the Favorites List for linking, an easy access to writer/poet's work I enjoy or would like to check-out in the future.

I don't look at the Top List anymore because its askew anyway—more of a Popularity List than anything. You either like my writing or don't. Right? Right. You can look for my stuff if you want to read me. I initially turned off the voting on my poetry on request by Lauren to let new poems have a chance to get to the Top. Several months have passed since then and I gotta tell ya, I've been a much happier neo ever since.

I believe the majority of the poets here on the board write anywhere from good to excellent poetry. It's nice that the poet of that poem was honored by the readers, but it does remind me once again that we're on an adult site, and we're working too hard on the poems we submit here. I'm going to write a poem about purring panties.
