if you have someone on ignore and they PM you, you don't know it do you?

Never thought of it. I have no idea what the answer is. Maybe PM Manu or Laurel?

They can PM you, but you won't get it. I have lots of people who have me on their Iggy List :D

So, if you send a PM to someone who has you on ignore, do you get it bounced back, or does it just disappear in to the ether and you're none the wiser?

If you care enough, I'd be willing to help you do an experiment. One of us could (temporarily) put the other on Ignore, then the other could send a PM. A day later (subject to arrangement), the Ignore status could be rescinded and we could report back.

Are you up for that?

PM me...

Sounds fair. If my net connection will stay up long enough (grr)

If you send a pm to someone who has you on ignore, the recipient has no clue they missed a pm, and you have no clue they never saw it.

It is possible to send a pm to someone you have on ignore, but you will never know if they responded.

Experiment underway (although I see now Bronzeage has answered already.)

Empirical research

Hi starrkers,

I just PMed you. What do you see?

My 'Sent' box shows the msg. Nothing in Inbox.

It seems that there is nothing to tell either of us that the message failed.

Empirical trial over, except to wonder what happens when you take me off ignore - will my message show up then or not?

Just took you off ignore.

No message.
Well, that means we know, "of our own knowledge." If you send a message to someone who has you set to 'Ignore' there is no indication that the message didn't arrive - but it didn't arrive. And that removing the 'Ignore' doesn't get you any messages sent while Ignore was in force.

So now we know ourselves, though thanks for bronzeage's assertion of that.
