Hi,
I have read a lot of correspondance on "ones", I assume that this is the rating that authors stories are given by readers? If this is so how do you find out how your stories are rated. I have 4 stories here and have not had any feedback and would like to establish what kind of stories are liked.

Regards

Join our feedback circle, look at the threads under story
feedback section. The more feedback you give the more your likely to get :)

As to ones, I watch a new story when I post it and can tell when a one vote hits early on. Thing that puzzles me when you get 1 vote of 3, 3 votes of 4 and 5 bvotes of 5 and then someone sticks a one on there and it sinks. I can't believe the story is that dire, if other people rate it a 5, even accounting for personal taste.

I think that '1' votes should only be accepted if accompanied by feedback saying why the person thought it was so bad.

Keep writing

Go to the story Index page and login as you would to submit a story through the scripts.

On that version of your author's page, the score and number of votes is shown next to the story title and status. (submitted or approved)

Once your story has ten votes, it should show up on the top stories list somewhere.

A lack of feedback genreally means that your story is of median quality -- It doesn't excite enough passion for praise, or enough disgust to generate brickbats.

The stories that are most liked, can be found in the top stories listing. The thing that all of the top 100 stories have in commonis that they are well written. Good story-telling skills will do more for your ratings than hot sex will. Also, No amount of hot sex can overcome a story that is hard to read.

On the story index page and on the site's home page, there is a link to the volunteer editor's program. Taking advantage of an editor's services will help your writing a lot, but don't forget your rhinoceros hide underwear. An editor is often going to tell you things you don't want to hear.
