some authors prefer to write in the third person...

personally I like to read a story where the author is writing personally...
in other words using I and we, rather than she, he, they...

and I know I'm not making a bit of sense... but that's nothing new

Hmmmmm it depends but I could go either way on that...I enjoy most stories...as long as its well written with a good plot scene and good description.

NO!!!

That takes the thinking part out of it. A third person could tell you what's going on inside someone's head, but it's not as good.

First person is always the best.

..but I agree with earlier comments. 3rd person narrative is excellent for setting the mood and general description building up to the story, rather like viewing a film I guess. 1st person is intense, powerful, and excellent catharisis for the writer! and in so doing he/she hopes that the reader is able to share the intensity of that moment.
