How do you feel about having a story removed from this site, if the opportunity arises to sell it?

I would just like to hear what other writers are thinking on this...

Thanks in advance! mlyn:kiss:

If it were my story, I wouldn't worry about removing it from anywhere, if I sold it.

However, I would mind losing copyright.

Is removing the story a condition for selling the story?

If it's a condition of selling the story, then I would have to decide whether the payment was worth the loss of readership and/or restrictions on where I could post the story.

I'd probably take the money unless the restrictions were outrageous. Read the contract for selling the story carefully and consult a lawyer if there is anything you don't understand.

Yeah. It is one of their conditions that the stories are not anywhere else online or in print when they consider it. after rejection, it could got back up.

I am just getting ready to try it out with one of my most popular stories and see what happens.

thanks for replying.

What I've often seen is publishers who aren't interested not just in works that are currently posted online, but have been posted online at all ... the author may take it down from his or her site, but once it's out there we really have very little control over it and it could end up copied and posted elsewhere even without our knowledge. So a publisher would have no way of knowing. They like exclusivity. My tuppence, anyway.
