Question?? Sex and Periods??

How long should a couple wait after the female has had her period to have sex? If they have the next day, and the female bleeds a lil bit what does that mean? Serious question, unregistered to hide identity!

We have sex through my period unless I am uncomfortable... sometimes if we have rough sex right after it stops I may spot a bit. Only time to worry I think (and I am not a dr) is if she is getting pain and regularly bleed after sex.
