So just a quick question, with the story series feature here on Lit, does anyone know if you can title a story something completely different but through the note you leave have it show up as part of a story series? Or do they all have to have similar titles?

I think it has to have the core title--and even chapter numbers to be put in order.

Chapter numbers aren't a requirement, though they're the only guarantee of your stories grouping properly as a series.

It works off the first few words of your title. So, in my case, it not only catches the 20 chapters of "Danica" listed by number, but also "Danica: Prelude" and "Danica Epilogue" ( Putting the colon in there on prelude caused it to group at the beginning, because punctuation comes before everything in the Lit "alphabet", followed by numbers, and then the letters )

It can also group things that aren't series by the way it works. I think it more or less ignores some words such as "The" and "A", but if you start a title with the same string of words on an unrelated story, you might find it identified by the code as a series.

This is true. I intended for my "Desperate Measures" anthology to post as individual stories, rather than as a series. I even included a request in the notes section of the submission page, advising that each entry was a separate, stand-alone story, and should be listed as such in my profile. Tough luck. I titled each chapter "Desperate Measures:_________" As a result each succeeding entry is grouped with the preceding entries, creating what is now a four part story.
