Hello, all...

Have a new story in the works and I'm debating its title. I'm not going to reveal any of the details until it's posted (they tend to change wildly from idea to final edit, anyways), so with that said...

Haram.

It's Arabic for immoral or against the Qur'an or against the faith or skanky...it's not easily definable, but there you go.

Too easily confused as a typo for "harem" (and thus ignored as such?) or acceptable for a story set in the Sahara?

Probably simply not understood by anyone who hasn't taken Arabic. Thus, most likely taken as a typo for Harem until/unless the reader learns otherwise. Doesn't mean you shouldn't use it--only that you should give the reader an "Ah ha" moment about it someplace in the story if you want them to see a connection to anything.
