Question in Regards to GLBT fiction

I was talking to someone earlier today and the topic came up.

Romance novels (i.e. Judith McNaught, etc) is extremely popular in today's fiction market. I enjoy reading them simply because I love a good story and I'm a sucker for romance.

I was wondering if there was a company who published romance novels for the GLBT crowds. I don't mean the pure porn you can get from the XXX sales places. I mean TRUE romance novels - plot, character, and romantic developments.

Ideas?

In my limited knowledge on the topic, nope.
Independent films are still the flavour du jour, and they were the only form of media that 'entertained' the idea of tackling any such topic. Hopefully, independent literature is next.

Or maybe HBO needs to read this?
