Question for the doctor nurse type people :)

Ok, this is going to sound.. well, weird.


Today was Gillian's first check up. Everything was fine, but we had a question about some small spots of blood that were randomly showing up in her diaper. There was no cut, no scratch, just small dime sized spots of red blood. Bright red, not old and dark. Sometimes it would be there, sometimes it wouldn't. No apparent rhyme or reason.

Well, we mentioned it to him, and he said that sometimes babies are passed extra hormoans (sp?) during the whole labor process, and it can effect thier body the same as it would an adult.

Basically he said she was having a little mini period. Has anyone ever heard of that happening? I never have, but want some more information on it, if possible.

not exactly that but my one cousin was given too many hormons at birth and she had breasts till she was 2 months old. this may be cause of the same kind of reason

but i've not heard of your situation yet.

Yes, I've heard of that, although the information wasn't witnessed first hand since I have a son. A friend of mine from back home had something similar with her two daughters. What your doctor told you is what she was told also. I think it lasted for only a short time, though.

Being a mom, though, go with your gut instinct. If you feel that in a little bit this isn't the answer you like, listen to your heart and ask again.

Every girl baby has this, it should have been explained to you by the nurses at the hospital.

They point it out to every mother that has a girl baby here in Australia, nothing drastic, just part of the process.

Take care of you and the little one, nothing to be worried about at all

What's weird is that our older daughter didn't have anything at all like that. And he did say breasts can be a side effect with some, and that this side effect should clear up soon. We have noticed it is getting less and less often. Instead of every other diaper, it's more like 1 in 3 or 4 diapers.

So, our darling lil girl has a period. Hubby aged about 2 years upon hearing that, he said.
