since the players are gonna walk off the job (again) on the 30th, can the owners call up the minor league players? Would that violate the current contract? My thinking is if they do walk, the present contract would be then null and void, allowing the owners to do what they want. However, ff they cant, why not use local yocals from the softball league?

Come on, admit it, anything would be an improvement over these whiney assholes

I've been on strike against baseball since the last time they went on strike, though I will admit to watching the World Series on tv. Their average pay is $1.5M for playing a game and they have the nerve to walk out, to strike.

I'll play.

I'll get all my friends together and we'll make up a team. They'll let us use the stadiums, I'm sure.

To answer your question, I don't know. I don't care. I'm not going to watch them anyway.

Go watch soccer, the men and the women. The women play an interesting game. They play hard and they're nice people trying hard to make a go of it. Some of them are pretty sexy too. :D

Both the men's league and the women's league are struggling to stay afloat. Support them, leave the spoilt baseball players go go home and watch soap operas in the afternoon if they aren't satisfied with a million and a half dollars a year.

We can have a Lit squad. Bud Selig can pay travel expenses, and we'll play against the bar down the street's team.

I pretty much have also, but the thought occured to me thinking it was a great way to stick it to these jerks. The NFL did it and not had to many problems since.

I think the girls can wear shirts with boobs painted on them (Nekkid ball has just got to be painful) and the guys can wear shorts with somethin' else painted on them.

I don't know the answer to the question, but I'd just like to say that I would have no problems with taking a bat to their balls.

Bikini tops might work.

You couldn't wear thongs though, sliding into bases without padded shorts can be painful. We could paint thongs on though. LOL.

Like replacement players? That would be so much cooler! Think about it...people playing the game for the love of the game!!!

I'm not saying that pro athlets don't deserve to make large sums. They work their bodies often into the ground and they have to make enough in a couple of decades (tops) to last the rest of their lives.

But the numbers are getting outrageous, and the fact that they go on strike season after season...it's rediculous.

Personally I prefer local sports. The Cape Cod baseball league is one of the best minor leagues in the country.

And the games are FREE!!

yes like replacement players sun, I also love the idea and would watch no matter how bad the talent was. I say fuck the babies and "Play Ball"!!!

The rule changes that are being proposed are being put forth to try to save the league. Many of the teams are in financial trouble while a few are doing very well. Some teams, like the NY Yankees have huge payrolls and win year after year. Some change is needed or many of the teams aren't going to survive to the overall detriment to the league.

The players have seen rapidly rising salaries across the league as some teams struggle to compete and retain their player talent with the Yankees, Mariners and the other wealthy teams. The players don't want to see the rapidly rising salaries slow it's ascent regardless of the overall health of the league. This is why they are fighting the changes. (I don't read the sports pages, but I do read the business section..lol).

I don't begrudge their salaries either, but I do think they should count themselves blessed for being in the position that they are and not threaten strikes.

LOL. I'm usually for "free enterprise" too.

A new team featuring lit players is exactly what's needed.

bottom line, this mess is the owners fault. If they'd smarten up and stop offering these huge salaries, problem solved.
