(Notice I did not specify gay men. Anyone who enjoys stories in this category is welcome to weigh in.)

I have a story in the works that is mostly a gay love affair, but will at some point feature a MMF threesome where the focus is on homoerotic sex, but will nevertheless involve male/female sexual interaction at points.

Is this a turnoff? Should I consider a different category? Group sex is out, since most of the story doesn't concern it, but maybe something else. Or, if it wouldn't ruin people's days, I can stick with Gay Male and call it good.

Not a gay male category reader but that's the category I'd want my story in under those circumstances. I think you're more likely to find an appreciative audience there even with the MMF scene than you would in other categories. The only other one I'd even consider I think is Romance, unless you have some heavy fetish content.

With my most recent story, I submitted it under the Exhibitionist/Voyeur category as I thought that was the best fit. But once it was published, Laurel had changed it to the Gay Male category instead.

So if you're unsure where it fits--pick what you think is best and it may get put somewhere better by the admin instead.

@OffNSFW you could leave it entirely up to Laurel. She's been doing this for a long time, and would have a pretty good idea where a story would run best. I've asked her to choose the best category for a couple of my stories, early on.

Not a turnoff for me. But guaranteed it will be for some people. ANYTHING will be a turn off for some people. I think you should stick to whatever works for you.

Good question.. I think if it's mostly gay.. keep it in the GAY section. Seems there are many who would like to see a "Bi" category too.

Gay sex has a large negative audience. MF couplings do not. Therefore it is much more important to avoid exposing the first group to MM if you want your story to do well.

Which means that you should definitely put it in Gay Male.

I'm a longtime GM reader and it would entirely depend how much of the focus is on the female party that would determine if it's a turnoff for me, but I do say that as a bi guy and not a gay man. If the main focus is on the interactions of the men and she's basically a sexy accent to the story that participates minimally, then I would see that as a GM story.

I've never had any GM readers complain about bits of MF sex, as long as they get their male stuff too.
Whereas other categories certainly have readers who don't want MM contact. Even (perhaps especially?) in Group Sex.

I read and write almost exclusively in the Gay Male category. SluttyBisexualGuy published GM stories that feature women. He even goes into graphic detail about women's anatomy. Some may not like it, I think it's fine--Can't please everyone.

I read First Date Glory by SluttyBisexualGuy for the first time recently and it has a 4.8+ rating in GM.

Go for it!
