I used to watch videos on YouTube lots of time. Now all of a sudden about two months ago nothing I do will get them to work. The videos will start and stop and start and stop...and so on.
It would not be such a problem if my favorite ones were'nt of my son who is in the Thunderbirds and he is in many of the videos on there, I miss watching them.

Any ideas on something I can do to get YouTube to work?
thank you, Icey

Which company provides internet to you?
What operating system do you have?

It could be software, it could be hardware (running out of page file, not enough RAM, network card going bad, hi speed modem going bad).

It could be your ISP, they might have done some work on their hardware at the station or on the line and you see the result.

It could be youtube. If they changed their video software (like codec) two months ago, your computer might not be able to read their data as readily as it used to be.

As you can see lots of items to choose from.

One of the things about youtube is that it starts playing video right away even though very little of the video have been downloaded. I don't always like that. So I would pause it and wait for the whole file to load and then play it.

I've had similar problems. It sounds like the videos aren't fully loaded when you're trying to play them. If you've had your computer for a while, spyware, your cashe being loaded, your hardware getting out of date--RAM and video card particularly--these can all slow down internet activities. First off, try leaving the video five minutes to load. YouTube likes to start playing immediately
(as mentioned) and it's rarely loaded by then. If anything's hanging up your computer's resources, it'll bog down the video and make it impossible to watch due to the jerking then. If you're running BitTorrent in the background, this can drain resources. Etc. Etc.

Try running Spybot and clear your computer of bugs, clear your internet cashe, and make sure you don't have a lot of other programs running when you're watching videos. Due to constant upgrading on popular sites if your computer's not right up to date with its hardware, things like videos are the first to be effected.

I hope your problems fix themselves. Mine did once I cleared my computer of spyware. :)

I use the firefox browser from mozilla with the download helper. I download the videos and watch them that way. much better than real time.

Thanks for all the advice.
I will take notes on all of it and see what I can come up with. This computer is only one year old.
Considering other problems that I have on here I too think it may now be the modem and will look into it.
I am rarely on here or even on my computer very often due to all the problems I have with it.

thanks again for all the advice,Icey:rose:
