Question about submitting

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting ready to submit my first piece of erotica for print publication and wanted to ask a question about the format. From the call for submission:

Stories should be from 1,500 to 6,000 words. Original stories are preferred, but reprints will be accepted as long as you retain the rights to the story. For previously published stories, you must include publication history with your submission. Authors may send up to three submissions. Authors will be paid $75/story and receive 2 copies of the anthology.

Email your double spaced, Word document submission with name, pen name (if applicable), address, email address and word count to firsttimersbook@yahoo.com

So where do I include my name, pen name, etc? At the top of the word.doc? Or in the email? Also, I've had a version of this story up here at lit, so where do I include that information, since they asked for publication history? And how should I format that?

This is all so new for me! And I'm more than just a tad nervous. Thanks everyone!

I don't have a clue but I wanted to wish you the best of luck.

and give you :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Congratulations!

Maybe ask ManyFeathers (aka Sandman?) Maybe?

Wonderful news!

I've always put my contact info in the email, as well as the listing for where I've had the stories published.

Good luck!

Wanna read it for me? It's just a little lesbian shaving story...

I just wanna say when I first saw the title to this thread I got very excited. Logo...submitting...mmmmmmm....

OK, well I'm going to guess that the other stuff goes in the email and only the story goes in the attachment. If anyone knows any different, just let me know. Thanks again!

I don't KNOW any different, but I would point out that the story isn't going to stay withthe e-mail, so it's probably good idea to add all of the requested information as an author's note/copyright notice in the Word DOC as well as in the e-mail.

There is a "Properties" function on the files menu in MS Word that provides a "hidden" place to put such information -- and that causes the information to show up when you hover the cursor over the filename in Windows. Whether that feature of MS Word is why they prefer the format, or putting the information in the body of the story as a header or footnote is preferred.

Many manuscript submission guides I have read state that your contact information should go at the top of the first page of your submission - Something very similar to how you'd put your name and address on the top of a formal letter.

In manuscripts though, I think it goes on the left hand side of the page - But i could be wrong. A quick web search should set you right.

Something like

--
Your Name
Your Email Address
Any other contact information
you wish to give or they require

Manuscript starts here......
