Question about rating

I was wondering if someone could tell me about the ratings on the stories please? How is the rating calculated - is it based on voting?

Also the H symbol - is this based on rating or on the content of the story?

The rating is based on the average score of those who have rated your story. Stories with a rating of 4.5 or higher receive the red H.

The rating is an average of all the votes cast for the story. Be aware that the system sometimes removes votes it considers "suspicious". The only known criteria is multi-votes from the same user. Beyond that, there's only speculation as to what triggers the vote sweeper, because revealing what it's looking for would let people avoid it to cast cheat votes

To earn an H, you need a score of at least 4.5, and at least 10 votes. Ws denote stories that have won monthly or themed contests. Es are the Editor's Choice award, which means that the powers-that-be of Lit have found the story especially pleasing.

The BEST stories I have read are rated between 4 and 4.50. I never bother with top rates.

CharleyH - I didn't get the whole rating thing - I am not that concerned about it - I enjoy writing and was just pleased to find here as a place to share it - I do hope someone enjoys it but I am not wanting to get into a whole rating fixation!! thanks for your comment - it validated my thoughts
