I'm in the process of writing this story, and its main intent is not erotic, although it has a sex scene at the beginning because it's something the protagonist would do. I am reluctant to put it in any other category (it would be in Erotic Couplings if any) because when people read an erotic story expecting a lot of moneyshots and don't find them, it pisses them off. Do stories in the Non-Erotic category have to be completely devoid of sexual content?

I have a sci-fi piece up that has no sex at all, even though the sci-fi cat is for sex stories set in a sci-fi world. When I submitted I just put in the notes I wasn't sure where it belonged but would prefer sci-fi over non erotic.

It's always best to just pm laurel if you aren't sure, but I don't think it will matter. They allow you a lot of lattitude here in where your stories end up.

I have a non-erotic story, but it does have a few sex scenes. I just used soft-core words and toned it down a few notches as those scenes were just to flesh-out a sub-plot.

I don't think so, SlickTony.

I have two Non-Erotic up so far.

One has no sex at all. The other a very short scene where one character strips for the other.

But the category decision is entirely up to you.

Anonymous sometimes objects that one or other of my stories are Non-Erotic and ought to be in that category.

Some of the criticised stories have implied sex. In some the scenario is only erotic is you like a particular fetish.

It doesn't seem to bother my regular readers if my story isn't in the Non-Erotic category.

Erotic does not have to be overt and in-your-face.

My advice is put it where you think it fits best. Non-Erotic sometimes gives the impression that it is labelled 'Don't bother to read any of these'.
