Question about Mirena

I've been thinking about getting a Mirena IUD and I was wondering if some of you would share your experiences. Specifically, I was wondering about what they say on their website about bleeding for the first few months it's in. Did anyone have bleeding to the extent that it would interfere with having sex? (I've only been with my partner for a little while so I'd prefer not to subject him to anything really messy). Or was it more like a light spotting, little bit of pink on the toilet paper when you pee type of bleeding. Thanks to you all!

My wife had this done 2 mths after our first child. The bleeding was heavy enough that I did not want to have sex with her for about 2 months. . The other really bard part of the IUD is the strings attached to it. I've got your average dick and when I'm in her all the way I can really feel the strings on my tip and it hurts pretty bad. Her doctor has trimmed them and moved it in further, but we still have this problem. The doctor said that it is a very common complaint. I'm begging her to get it removed ASAP. I would rather wear a condom than put up with the IUD.

I've had mine in for, I think, three months now, and I'm loving it so far. For the first month I spotted (this was like the lightest day of my period, but periodically for three weeks or so) and for the last two months my period has been all of a five minute flow or the pink on the tp thing. I haven't even used a tampon, which is weird, to me.

While I was spotting more regularly, I had absolutely no problems having sex, and it wasn't messy enough to worry about. Really, it was so light that we didn't even notice. I was just paranoid about it otherwise.

I've heard the bleeding can be pretty heavy.

From the collection of discussions I had about IUD's, it seems that the copper ones are the ones that cause the heavy bleeding, and experiences with the Mirena are much, much less than normal.

Point: You can always get it taken out if you are unhappy with it.
