Question about men's underware

I currently wear boxer-briefs and love the way they feel. I can't stand boxers since it feels like I'm not wearing anything at all, and regular briefs are far too snug. My issue is with the amount of underwear lint I'm getting on myself. I don't recall ever having lint when I wore boxers or briefs, but these boxer-briefs always leave traces behind.

I've tried multiple brands like Hanes and Stafford, but with the same results. It doesn't seem to matter if I wear a brand new pair or a throughly used pair. Has anyone had similar issues and found a brand that doesn't do this? Could I be washing them wrong or something? Any input would be appreciated.

It probably depends on the thread count of the fabric and how the seams are sown. Have you tried washing them inside out and pulling off any loose lint from the seam area before you put them on? You might also try running one of those little lint/pill shavers over the problematic area(s) before you put them on, too.

If you're hairy, that might be a cause of any lint getting stuck more.

I haven't noticed this issue with Hubby's boxer briefs, but I'll ask him when he gets home. I'll see if the brand is still visible on the tag, too.

Lint filter is clean and I do use a softner sheet.

I really don't know if I'm "hairy" or not. If only I had a sweet to shave me ;)

i find boxer briefs comfortable but only in cold weather and i've never had that issue. i've tried both hanes & fruit of the loom. my bet is that the plant performing the contract fabrication for staffords/hanes used substandard fabric. the majority of underwear is not actually manufactured by the labels whose names you see on 'em.

wait--how old are those boxer briefs, man?

That's odd. My ex-husband wore boxer briefs--nothing fancy, just Hanes or Fruit of the Loom--and I don't recall that he ever had this problem.

My husband wears them and we've never had this problem. I buy whatevers cheap though lol.

One thing that comes to mind is that your dryer or washer machine may be too harsh with your clothes. Do you find that other clothing, especially those with similar fabric and texture as your underwear begin to look worn? Also, it may have to do with your detergent that you use.

Good luck.

Try Patagonia Active boxer briefs, the stretchy moisture-wicking butt-cheek caressing amazingly amazing ones. Absolutely amazing. I have the girl version. They make me SO happy. It gives me a little rush every time I put my underwear on. You think I'm kidding :D I threw out all my other underwear after I began my illicit relationship with these unbelievably comfortable panties.:heart::heart:

I'll have to look into that :)

silverwhisper, as I said before, I have both old and new. I just put on a new pair last night.

fire_breeze, I usually wash anything together, so I haven't really noticed. Maybe I should try a load of just undies and see if that makes any difference.

I'm wondering if maybe I have some razor sharp hair down there that's shredding the soft material. I'll have to shave and see if it makes a difference I suppose

Thanks for all the responses everyone!

sorry, man, i must've missed that. since it seems to be the same for all pairs, then it can't be a bad batch or that sort of thing.

i'm afraid i'm at a total loss so i'm hoping someone else does weigh in who's also had that issue: i'm utterly mystified!

Who knows. Maybe it's a simple matter of getting laid. Being single, I spend far too much time fondling myself through my clothes. Women need to understand that men need sex, not just because of biological urges, but that we suffer in day-to-day issues if we aren't getting some lovin'!

You could also try one of those fine mesh lingerie/sweater/delicates bags. You could still wash and dry the undies with your other clothes, but they'd be protected from rubbing against your rougher garments. Woolite makes an excellent, sturdy fine mesh bag (get the larger one so you can wash sweaters or other delicates, as well) that should be available online or at Target/Walmart or similar stores.

In addition to that, try a different detergent. Some of them are really rough on clothes. I've been happy with Costco's Kirkland brand of liquid detergents for the past few years (most recently I'm trying the ecofriendly one, which is great), but there are lots of fine, effective brands out there that are more gentle on fabrics.

I wear the ones I was born in...

It's hot here where I live in South Africa, and being a farmboy, working outdoors in the hot sun gets you all sweaty in odd places. All sorts of nasties and ickies breed in hot damp environments I'm sure, so I find it far better to just swing in the breeze...

I probably would go nekkid if it weren't for the fact that a sunburnt pecker is not my idea of fun, and also nekkid and power tools (welding splatter, grinding sparks - yowch:eek:) don't go together:D

I can just imagine explaining to the doc how your dangly bits got entwined in a planter or harvester mechanism

Go Commando!!!
