When flogging, is it a whole arm movement or a flick of the wrist? (Recommend a video if you cant)

Also, when on a St Andrews Cross (X Frame), people usually are bound facing forward/outward. Can it be done with them facing the frame?

Thanks in advance

movie 3 on this page has flogging in it

i think rather than a full swinging motion that carries the tails down the back, stop the flogger immediately after it hits or even pull it backwards in a snapping motion right before it hits. By varying this motion you can control how much of the tails connect with the back; more will cause greater thud while hitting with just the tips will be stingier.

Well this is all up to the person
I do both... full arm swing if i want have deeper impact... wrist swing if i am looking to just graze (though i have a good wrist swing too). I have only ever put someone facing the cross, but... i have been bound to one both facing it and facing away from it... that, again, depends greatly on the Dom(me) and their desire in how they wish you bound and the type of play involved

How would you say it differed? Was it more/less comfortable? Obviously different areas are exposed.

Well, it was.. different. I mean, my chest and shoulders (front) handle the flogging differently then my back do. With my nipples pierced i could not handle as powerful of thrusts as i could against my back. My back can take an extreme amount of flogging, caning, etc. The front has less strikable area as well. It's not always healthy to strike the belly area... but the front allows for more nipple play and cbt.

So.. they were equally stimulating, equally as pleasurable/painful... but vastly different.

I agree. I've been in both positions. From an arm comfort standpoint, I find it more comfortable to be facing it if I'm going to be there for awhile. Not sure why that is. Also, my back/butt can take a lot more than my girl parts can, for obvious reasons. And it really depends on just what it is you're aiming to do and what body parts you want to access. But there's no reason why you can't be on the cross in either direction.

My man-boy loves to be bound, and when I use my crop on him (no matter how hard or where I strike him) he is excited by it. If he is not bound, he is not turned on, at least, not as much.

Most of the time, I use a flick of the wrist with a slight arm movement. I find this a most perfect style when I am whipping his erection. I try to make it soften, but he remains hard, perhaps even getting harder each time my crop bites it.

To be honest, I am new at this and have a lot to learn.

I have just starting training with a Domme and have not experienced IP yet. A side of me can't wait to try this...facing in or out. I'm sure it will be different than I expect, however I am turned.

Really? The parties I go to are for play, and I've probably only seen people bound to the cross facing outward once or twice.

In porn, and erotic photographs, I think they prefer to face people outwards because you get to see faces, breasts, pussies, etc.

But in real life that is definitely not my experience.

(For the flogging portion of this post, I'm deferring to my partner, who absolutely adores flogging the shit out of, uhm, me. hehe)

For most flogging styles the whole arm is always used to some extent, depending on the intensity you want. The way I have learned is a martial arts approach to it, using your entire body working together, to give your strokes speed and momentum rather than strength. I know, I know it sounds silly, but even if you are a strong person, if you try to "force" the flogger with your strength, you will fatigue faster and the scene will end. Playing with any sort of heavy pain bottom, you quickly learn that it is a workout, and if you work too hard, your bottom will out last you.

Depends on many factors. Style, chosen target, desired effect, weight of the flogger, length of the flogger, tempo, etc. If I am using a light flogger, it is likely to be more wrist action. Heavy floggers require more arm/body. Harder thuddy hits take more arm and stingy hits can be done with the wrist only to conserve energy.

In short, be flexible, try different things, learn, and make your own style. You might be pull-muscle dominant versus push-muscle dominant, and this will mean that you will have better ability to do strike that use the pulling muscles. I may be push-dominant, and thus what works for me won't work for you.

One thing I will suggest is to work both hands. If you can flog with your off-hand, you can double your effective endurance. And you can aldso learn flogger florentine and really blow your bottom's mind. :D

Can be either, depending on weight of flogger, length of tails, how much impact you want to put on the receiver, etc. No videos, but if you want to really learn the art, watch Master Hines. Or me. Not bragging, mind you, but I've been told I'm damn good with floggers.

See that St. Andrews cross in the background of my av? It's in my living room. And I put people on it facing the wall... facing me... Any direction I feel like. I have _NOT_ strung anyone upside down on it.

Yet.

Hmmmmm...

He's not bragging. E_G really is damned good. If you get a chance to watch him play/demo, jump on it.

Yes what they said. EG isn't bragging (this coming from someone who has experienced his floggings).:D

It took me a minute to even see that in the background! I'm glad you've found it so useful -g-

mmmm

I went out to a group last night for the first time and spent probably and hour and half getting flogged. It was so fabulous, and yes, he can Florentine and uses both hands interchangeably. I spent a while hanging from very nice wrist cuffs. During that, I warned him that I really loved the bites he was giving me intermingled with the flogging, but that I was going to squirm a lot and was worried about kicking him... so we moved across the room to a St. Andrew's cross and he cuffed my wrists & ankles to it with some rope bondage around my torso & neck. He flogged my thighs, hips, sides, breasts, just all over... I had (and am still wearing) a very very good smile.

It was a great night... also met some nice folks with knives, and someone with lots & lots of spanking implements. I'll absolutely be going back there!

.

I think I use both. Gripping it at the ball with just two fingers. Letting the weight of it swing itself. Changing up the fingers so I don't get a blister.

My first real experience with flogging was at a play party with this great Domme who really knew how to make a good thuddy feeling with the flogger.

I can't tell you how long I was there, cause I felt like I was almost sleeping the entire time, I was so relaxed (floggings are better than a massage, for me!), but I was bound at waist, ankle and wrist facing the cross.

The interchange was floggings with bare handed open palm spankings.

It was a large crowd. Too bad cameras weren't allowed.

To date, I have only dominated men, but reading your post "watergirl" has aroused a desire to dominate a woman.

I haven't had a chance to experience flogging with the St Andrews Cross, but it is definitely on the list. (Flogging combined with bondage...how can you go wrong? ;) Watching the demos at the party was the first time I had seen a cross in person. I just love the look of it...ancient, heavy, immovable, helplessness. Flogging alone makes me wet. Seeing it done while bound on the cross caused a flood.
