even though i clear the history and everything. everytime i start up Internet Explorer and i got to type in this one website its remembered in the bar and pops up. is there anyway to stop this? i dont want anyone whose not suppose to see the site see it

Sometimes Internet Explorer doesn't completely clear the history even when you ask it to, I've often had history reappear after clearing it.

I'd suggest using a browser other than Internet Explorer such as Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org) or Opera (http://www.opera.com) both of these browsers have very easy methods to clear the history.

If you still want to use Internet explorer check out the Microsoft knowledge base article 157729 at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;157729

It covers how to clear the history by manipulating the registry locations directly.

First off, go up to your Tools menu > Internet options > Content> then look down to where it says "auto complete", click that. On the next prompt that shows up, make sure that nothing is checked in the upper half "use auto complete for" section, then in the bottom half, click the clear forms and passwords buttons, hit ok, then apply and you're good to go.

Then for extra goodies, you need (and everyone else should have) Tweak UI

If you're running XP, you already have this on your machine, it's under, Start > Programs > Powertoys for XP

Some extra security and tweaks that are nice to have.

Firefox is also the best way by far to go...get rid of Explorer and enjoy the internet for what it's meant to be...**** ;)

thank you cyberski very much. it worked
Welcome.....still, get firefox. You'll be thanking me many times over once you get used to the speed and the over-all better performance of it compared to explorer. The built-in pop-up killer alone is worth it ;)
