Question about a Category (Story Link Added 12-22)

I've written a short story and don't know if it's appropriate to put it in the Non-Erotic category or not. Can someone please tell me if the Non-Erotic category just means "No sex" or is there something more to it? I just want to make sure I put it in the appropriate category. It's kind of a sad story and it has no sex in it, but I'm proud of it nonetheless and want to submit it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Well, is it erotic in some way, even though it doesn't have sex? If so, I would put a disclaimer at the top and put it in whatever cat seems appropriate. If it's truly non-erotic, then put it in that cat.

I've got three in there myself.

Welcome to the AH, In. If the non-erotic category is the only place it will fit, then it has to go there. However, that is the category that probably gets the fewest views. People come here to read dirty stories, or erotic literature.

That sounds like he kind of story non-erotic exists for.

Magica is correct that a story can be "erotic" without sex -- or conversely non-erotic even with sex -- but "sad stories" without sex don't tend to be erotic.

You might want to run it by a Volunteer Editor before posting -- both for a good proof-reading and for a second opinion on which category would be best. (it's difficult to categorize a story on such a slim description.)

Be Warned that you may have to try ten or twenty of the listings in the Volunteer Editor Directory because it's coming up on the heart of the Holiday Season and that's makes the notorious lack of response from editors who have quit without removing their listing even worse than normal.

If it's very short and in MS Word format, you can e-mail me (or PM for my e-mail address) and I'll proof-read it for you.
