Puppies are useful in the cold winter for keeping feet warm by cuddling close to them. In the summer they can be useful if you put a fan in their mouths and allow them the pleasure of fanning Me until I am cool.

With spring approaching, I am sure there are upcoming dog shows that the puppy must be trained for – basic obedience, positions, handling, showing, grooming, being crated, etc. Also a good time to enjoy some backyard play with the puppy – fetch with one thrown object like a ball, or with numerous objects that must be collected one by one and presented, maybe a bath with the hose for a dirty puppy, perhaps puppy even needs a refresher class on piddling outside or only on command, a nice fresh bowl of water for the puppy to lap at when s/he gets thirsty, and if good perhaps puppy earns a jerky treat they can hold with their paws while they chew, maybe the puppy gets some scraps from lunch on the patio, or perhaps begging isn’t allowed. Might also be a good time to let your puppy frolic with another happy puppy full of spring energy.

Alternative leash – split one end into two with attached clamps or clothespins… puppy can be led by the nipples.... if they are pulled off through a slow or stubborn puppy, spare not the newspaper.

Now this is exactly how a puppy should be trained..thoroughly...no nonsence...just learn learn learn...I like the hosing down of the puppy very much...they shiver so cutely...and whimper almost everytime the hose hits their body.

Only when full control by the trainer was gained, was the puppy at last allowed to play, by fetching of a stick thrown into the river.

There is a lovely creek close by and over three acres of fenced park like yard. A nice environment for tossing sticks for fetch...training in rolling over and playing dead...Sitting and begging...heeling on a leash...etc.

I don't know that I could be involved in puppy play myself.. I think it would mostly make me giggle, and getting me started on that is never a good idea.

I'm not sure about ponyplay, though I did find a lovely picture and had to share it.. I'm fond of my usual AV, but I like a change from time to time. It interests me in a lot of aspects, but I think it would be a good while before we indulged in it, if ever.

At least, though, with a load of horses, we have a lot of equipment at the ready!

well i dont see it as wanting to be a bad puppy....i would think a well behaved puppy gets rewarded, in the way he/she likes the most? (even caning or humiliation )

I have always found the concept of puppy play attractive, but my master doesnt, so alas for me. I guess having two spoilt dogs makes me want to be on the other side for a change.I like the simplicity of canine behaviour, the open adoration, the joy they experience at a kind word or reward, and think I would make a fetching puppy girl (pun intended).
