I've resided my former bone ugly house. I'm now left with what is akin to a white hotel.

I want a stark red front door. Everyone else says shutters.

I'll go with the majority. Stark red front door, or standard green shutters? Or other? No neighbours, nobody to please, nobody will see anything I do.

Any decorators out there?

I once made over my small bedroom into a study (den) and decided to do it all in black...

walls
ceilings
furniture
pull down lights
blinds

everything...

The effect was great...

It became the best room in the house...guests always preferred sitting in it...

Go for stark red...you want it - you have it...

Red is classy!

A bright, glossy red door shouldn't offend anyone, especially if the rest of the house isn't mauve or harvest gold. It looks fresh and welcoming on a white house.

I have a white house and a red front door (more of a brick color) and I love it. It looks great because I have to Purple Plum trees growing off each corner of my house. It looks so nice. I say, go for the door.

(oh and I have black shudders, because my shingles are black)

My house is sort of light blue-gray with white trim and I have a fire-engine red front door.
