Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard of an erotic story publishing company called Group MVP?

Not I.

Are they hard-copy or E-book? The E-books companies are springing up like mushrooms.

Don't know. Someone contacted me who said they were with the company and I wanted to find out something about them before opening up a dialogue.

Isn't this the place someone brought up awhile ago? I'm trying to find that thread. It turned out to not be such a good thing.

Hey Phuzzy...I've gotten many emails from places like that, usually at my other email address. Most of them claim that they want to pay you for your work or want to make you rich and famous and then say, all we need is your credit card number...etc. I usually just ignore things like that unless I do know the company. But good luck to you. Let me know if it's legit? :catroar:

Thanks sexy. I'll just ignore them from now on.

It does seem as if they want everything and are offering nothing in return.

You are very sweet.

(I hope I get mine out in a day or two. I'm editing like a fool.)

I have and ....

I wrote a note to the LIT people a few months back and got no response, so I am writing one to you as well.

Several of us have been contacted by a representative of a company called Group MVP Publishing, by a woman named Carol.

She asks permission to use our work in exchange for copies of the magazines they will be printed in. The other carrot she dangles in front of our noses is that she will also BUY new material for a certain rate.

I sent her a few stories and recieved NO payment for my efforts, nor did I get any response to E-Mail enquiries. When I posted on a few of the Forums, I got other people telling me of a like experience.

When I DID get my copies of the magazines, it ap! peared to me that ALL of the stories had been lifted from LITEROTICA, verbatim. No editing was done, they were just used - without giving us copyright notice, I might add.

You might want to let people know NOT to get involved with this person.

Sincerely,

BrettJ

Whoa whoa whoa.

Wait a moment.

What is the magazine? E-zine? Print?

Give us magazine titles and addresses, please.

This will not go unpunished.

I'm with SSS on this one. You received no response from the webmasters?

Today

I posted a note to the Webmasters quite some time back, they just sent a response today. One suggestion was to post the story here, to warn you all. But MY suggestion back was to post on the MAIN site, to warn everyone.

My stories were published in magazines entitled Sexy Stories, Bump & Grind, Sex Partners, Hot Details, Naughty Relatives, Next of Kin, All In the Family and Family Affairs.

I would venture a guess that EVERY story in these digests was lifted from LIT.

Thing is, I gave permission. The deal was, she was allowed to use my LIT work, but she was also supposed to buy new material from me as well.

I sent 10 stories, all of which she accepted. To this date, I don't know if they were ever published, I do know I was not paid for them. As I wrote them and wasn't paid, I've since rewritten them and posted them on the site.

I hope this helps some of you. I was burned, that much is certain.

What's the name of the site? You said you posted on their forums?

Trying to lessen confusion

Okay, to explain this again.

I was writing on this site, LITEROTICA, when a woman named Carol contacted me from Group MVP. They are located here in Canada. They publish erotic story digest magazines.

She told me that she liked my work and would like to publish it. Could I please contact her? I did so.

She informed me that she was looking for writers to write NEW material, and would pay $20 for stories of 1500 - 2500 words. She would also like to use my LIT work, for which I would recieve copies of each magazine.

I gave my permission, began writing new material for her right away. This was back in May of 2005.

She got in touch with me in June and informed me she had recieved them, wanted to use them.

I wrote 10 new stories in total. She told me she could use all of them. OCTOBER, the next date of publishing, came and went. "Carol" told me she had enough material to use, but if I waited until DECEMBER, she would use them all and pay me.

Needless to say, that also came and went. I recieved copies of the aforementioned DIGESTS some time ago, but ALL the stories in it [ of mine anyway ] were taken from LIT, even small mistakes were not corrected. To date, I have never heard from her again, although I did send a letter REFUSING permission to allow her any more access to my work. I also sent a letter to LIT.

I never heard from them, so I sent another one, which was the one I posted here earlier. I just got the answer for that tonight.

If you have any other questions folks, ask away.

I see.

And I'm very sorry you were ripped off.

So the forum you posted on was here on Lit.

So the company sent you copies of their print magazines? Can you list the story titles you suspect are from Literotica? And an address - post office address - as well as email of the company?

The site owners here (Laurel and Manu) respond very quickly to stolen story problems. Send them a PM, not an email, and inform them of this problem - they'll help get the word out to authors.

carol@groupmvp.com is the E-Mail address I sent everything to.

ANY story in the Digests I mentioned above, as written by me, WAS ripped off from LIT. But I think ALL the stories in the Digests were, as they all had "Sent In by ... " at the end of each one.

I posted the stories on my LIT story page, yes. I continue to do so to this day, I don't mind others reading my work for free, I read theirs. It is an exchange. I just think this person violated my trust, and likely, others as well. "Carol" sent me a PM on site, I didn't solicit her.

As to sending a PVT to the site owners, Laurel & Manu, not sure if I did that or not. Not sure I remember how.

I hope this helps all of you avoid this in the future. PM me if you want more info [ or just want to talk, I do like having friends and sharing ideas ]

They cannot publish your work without your permission. Period. That is against the law.

You gave permission with the understanding you'd be paid. You were not paid, but they are making money from your stories. That is definitely against the law.

Many of us in the AH have tracked down websites that have stolen our stories. We fought them and won. Literotica owners have managed to shut down a few of these sites, and the others were forced to remove our work.

I wouldn't give up just yet.

Is there a company address in one of those magazines?
