Well… I've made it to 1,000 posts. Not all that big a deal I guess, I did it faster than some, slower than some and no, I didn't do it by obsessively posting to the game threads.
I've chosen Public Enemy #1 as my title… so, Laurel - when you get a chance? Thanks! Hopefully titles are changeable - I am not a great believer in labels but this one seems appropriate at this point in time. Perhaps, as time goes on, I can change it with the approval of management.
I have been online a long, long time (as these things go). 9 years now - maybe even 10. I've belonged to a few different communities over the years. I've made some wonderful friends and hopefully not too many enemies. I'd like to think I've comported myself in a way that has been faithful to the values I consider important.
I would like to say that I have truly enjoyed my time here at Literotica and hope to remain a member of this community for a long time to come. I have met some very nice, very interesting, very wonderful people here who I would like to consider on that list of friends. And yes, a few have frustrated me, annoyed me, challenged me and pissed me the fuck off! These are all good things!
I've seen some really thought provoking threads here AND some outright stupidity. I am often amazed at how easy it is to get people to sink to the level of those who initiate such stupidity. I know its human nature to challenge and protect and defend your friends, your ideals. But I have also been online long enough to know that, more often than not, you're wasting your breath. Some like to provoke just to get a reaction out of people and have no interest in what others actually have to say. They seek conflict for the sake of their own amusement. Some are true assholes. Frank Zappa once said, "Stupidity is the norm of the Universe." Unfortunately, that is too often true. So, for what its worth, if anyone cares for my advice on the subject… DON'T WASTE YOUR BREATH. Time is precious. I value my time. I choose to spend my time with my friends and in pursuits that interest me and enlighten me. This isn't to say that there aren't times when something just sends me over the edge and I respond impulsively. But I try and choose my battles, the ones that are truly worth fighting.
For most of my years online, at various sites, I have gone by the name Aleister. I chose Dillinger when I came to Literotica, thinking I was only using it to post my stories. I never realized, at that time, that there was a Bulletin Board. So when the BB was first brought to my attention I also came in as Dillinger and Dillinger I have remained.
Aleister, over the years, has come to embody many aspects of my real life personality. Dillinger seems to embody some of those same aspects and other, more salacious aspects, as well. I think the longer one is around a group of people, online or real life, the more their true self comes out. How most of us chose to present ourselves when first coming here is probably not, over time, how one is currently perceived. This is goodness. It is real.
Public Enemy #1? Well… *lol* - probably not. But hey - it fits Dillinger and perhaps it fits how a few here may perceive me. But hopefully most are getting to know me better than that. (For the record, John Dillinger was the first Public Enemy #1 - the designation was created for him and did not exist prior to that.)
Some of you here have gotten to know me well enough to know that I am basically a Pagan. While not a follower of any one system of beliefs, I am a student of many. There was a time a number of years ago that I used to host my own table/room - call it what you want… a place on the net where a community gathered. I did so for nearly a year and a half. This was at a point in my life where I had more free time than I do now. Back then when we wanted to celebrate we usually held a spiral dance, a sacred dance, a summoning of the Goddess and of the Lord of the Dance… a Pagan rite.
I'd like to do so again… any who wish to participate, feel free to do so… and for those of you who actually read this far… thank you!
(Walking a triple spiral on the ground… and as the music begins starting to dance… )
She danced on the water and the wind was her horn
The lady danced and everyone was born
And when she lit the sun the light gave him birth
The lord of the dance was the king of the earth
Dance, dance wherever you may be
For I am the lord of the dance, said he
I'll live in you if will you live in me
And I'll lead you all in the dance, said he …
