I absolutely love the public comments!
One thing I have to know - is that something new, or is it just something that I have failed to notice for two years!? I'll admit, sometimes i have a tendency to miss what's right in front of me! Anyway, I think it's a great thing, and thanks to all the people who have given me such wonderful comments - My head is getting very big!!

I've only gotten one so far where the little bastard said my story was 'predictable'.

I have not received any to date. I have seen several on stories I have read, but do not believe they added much of anything.

The comments were predicable.

Have not reached a final decision as to whether I will keep them or not on future stories.

Has nothing to do with not wanting comments. Seems odd place to get them.

I opted to not have public comments. I feel if they can't take the time to write a simple letter to me, it is most likely just a bunch of hoopla being posted below my stories.

I know that is not always the case. I get enough email feed back. I don't need more feedback options taking away from what someone might write in a personal note and not express in an open public manner.

I think the public feedback is likely to take the place of email feedback in many cases. Because it is easier and the viewer can see their own response posted. I rather maintain a rigid format. Those who really want to respond are going to send a letter. That is the response I am looking for, the ones who are willing to go out of their way to convey thoughts back.

I did place one story to have public comments for a short bit. I was not impressed with the responses. "Oh I would fuck that..." to "Give me more your wife needs my Cock..."

I think it is great peeps get off on the story, but it really does nothing for me personally to have a bunch of crude remarks. One after the next competing for attention.

So for now I will stick to the email. Besides I prefer to write back in a private manner.


Not saying the open response is not a good idea. Just saying it does take away from the quality a bit more than I would like.

Glad we have the option to choose. I actually like reading some of the responses below other Authors stories. So maybe I am being selfish but at least I have a good reason.

So far it seems that the comments are viewable when a reader votes on a story. I'm not sure what will happen in the future. You can also delete comments you don't like.

My personal preference is to be able to give public repies. That way, when someone leaves bad comments, I can return the favor.

Shereads, you can read the public comments at the end of the story, provided the author has activated the function in his/her control panel.

The public comment function is a completely seperate entity from the traditional voting system. You don't need to vote to read the comments and the 'vote' you might give within a comment is not counted as a vote on the story, merely a public indication of how good you thought the story was.
