Okay so this is basicly a sharing of information post. Everyone is welcome. So here goes...

How, why, and when do you 'groom' your pubic hair?

I'll start, I use clippers and a short guard. I trim what I've got cuz its cooler and jerking off is easier. And when is every month our so.

Can't wait to here what everyone else has to say.

My first lover was completely bare, which I've always liked anyhow when I saw it in porn. I wasn't sure I wanted to do it, but when she suggested it, I said, Sure, what the heck, and was surprised to find out that I like it.

Of course, it gets prickly. The prices we pay for beauty.

I use an electric shaver, and a Gilette Mach 3 for the careful places. (I've even been able to go up the back with it, which is something that really surprised me.) I do it because 1) I like it, and 2) it gets itchy. (Evidently I'm now condemned to complete bareness until I like fall into a coma or something.) And it ends up happening every four or five days.

If you shave for long enough, you'll probably find the itchiness with regrowth will go away eventually.

Or, if you want to grow it back, get waxed and then it won't itch when it comes back in.

Noname, welcome I don't mean to be the proverbial stick in the mud, but if you do a little searching, you'll find hundreds of threads on what grooming technique(s) people prefer and how they groom. The results? Most of the members here prefer hairless or trimmed and groom/maintain regularly. A minority prefers natural or doesn't care either way.

There's ample info on most grooming techniques in The Blank Manual sticky that's highlighted the top of the main How To page. You can find detailed instructions on searching the forums and site in the FAQs - Read Before Posting... sticky on the same page. Both are great threads for all members to review because they contain a wealth of info on a variety of topics, including forum logistics. The stickies in each forum are there to make your discussion board experience as smooth as possible, so it doesn't hurt to check them out before starting threads. :)

For me it the trimmer on the pubes, and then shave the shaft and balls. Had a minor scalping accident with trimmer this week and decided to shave the whole area for 1st time, jury's still out on how I like it. Should be active this weekend and find out how it feels.

I made the mistake of shaving my nuts once. Ball sacks aren't made to be shaved. It's like shaving a 90 year old man's face and nicks are a much bigger deal. I felt like I had fleas when it started growing back after a few days and swore never to do that again. I like a monthly touch up to prevent a jungle look and I prefer my women with hair too. Don't really know why, I suppose I'm too much of a purist.

Maintenance

I am not a particularly hairy guy but I like to keep things trimmed to make me look bigger, to reduce any pungent aromas, and to keep hair out of the way with I get my dick sucked.

I trim whenever I look down and think, "Woah! Gotta trim!" There is no schedule.

I used to pluck ball hair, like the one guy said. It leaves things very smooth without any pricks of a razor. It hurts at first but the sensation is easy to get used to. I gave up because it was time-consuming. Now, dangerous as it sounds, I get in there with a razor, Gillette or whomever.

I use a pair of small nursing scissors to trim the rest of me. It's like a haircut, never gets itchy, and my wife wants me to have some hair. She told me she doesn't want to think of a baby bird with it's neck broken when she sees me naked and unexcited.

I asked this a while back but I don't think I got a response.

Hair removal seems to be a popular subject. Since shaving appears to be a never ending unpleasant operation for many, I'm hearing that a neatly trimmed private area is the most popular "long term solution".

I also read that boy trimmers work well for a clean trim. Has anyone tried the different "body hair trimmers" ??? I think Philips Norelco, Remington and Wahl each make a trimmer.

Are they worth the money and do they do the job?

I have shaved for years, have no real problems as long as I don't shave against the direction the hairs grow.

Think there is any connection between shaving and love of receiving oral? Less hair= enjoy more, more hair= less?

I use a beard and mustache trimmer on my boys. I like the bald look but find I sweat a lot more with no hair than when I leave a little. I also hate the itchiness when it grows back in. I love my ladies shaved. hair gets in the way of good oral.

Well...since I'm a child of the 60's - hairy women turn me on anyway - but since I've been with a few shaved and/or neatly coifed - I like that too - mostly I like women - in whatever flavor!

If I want hair gone I use black people hair removal cream. Great for pubic hair and no itchy. I will wax. I want to get a Brazilian wax done by a pro. If I am not sexually active I only shave with clippers.

I had cabin fever and plucked out all my pubic hair one at a time, sometimes two, It took two days four hours a day. Now the wife won’t let me alone– soooo smooooth.

There is a company called lush (mall or online) that makes all natural shave lotion (prince). that makes shaving very easy, incredibly smooth, no razor burn, no itch or ingrown hairs. I have used it for years, and the gf totaly enjoys it also.

Trimmers?

Hmm...I checked the Blank Manual, and didn't see something like this: does anyone know of a good trimmer brand? (Also, should it be specifically designed for women, or doesn't it usually matter?) I've always carefully trimmed with a type of grooming scissors, but it seems like it'd be a lot faster if I had some sort of trimmer. I'm not a fan of shaving/waxing, since I hate any prickly feeling, but I definitely want to be very neat down there.

Also, it'd be awesome if they were on the less expensive side.

I wanted to ask you all first, since this is a thread about grooming styles, but I could just post a new topic about it.

Thanks!

where do you get this at?

It's called Magic Shave powder or cream, and you can get it in either the men's shaving or ethnic haircare section of many drug and major retailers. You want the sensitive skin formula (the powder is in a silver can, IIRC, and it's cheaper than the cream).

There are several threads about it in The Blank Manual sticky at the top of the main How To page.

As with any serious chemical, make sure you do the patch test and wait 24 hours first. People have had serious chemical burns from Magic and other depilatories. You can also develop an allergy/sensitivity to it over time.

I've tried several depilatories, including Magic. It's better than Nair (which is better than Veet), but it's still stinky and time consuming, so don't do it the day you're planning on being intimate. Add that to irritation and potential problems, and I don't find it a great choice for hair removal, though YMMV.
