Hey

bearshare has forced me to 'upgrade' to a version which only allows me to download music and videos, neither of which I am interested in as I prefer to buy both

however, I do like downloading pics, and software from it, or used to.

I need a new Peer To Peer programme similar to bearshare. if you are unfamiliar with this program, it is much the same as Kazaa or Morpheus but neither of these are acceptible alternatives as both are highly dangerous and contagious.

any suggestions please??

p.s. sorry if I've posted in the wrong section... :nana: :)

thanks in advance

I haven't used it in a while, but I've had really good luck with Limewire. I'll find out what Hubby uses, too - it's one of the ones that grabs little pieces from a bunch of users on the network, though.

i don't like limewire personally, I had it on my pc, and my hard drive space seemed to have substantially got less and less, and then i realised my limewire downloads folder was full of zip files that i'd never downloaded, and most of them would have sent a flurry of viruses onto my pc had i opened any of them

i quickly deleted them all and removed limewire off my pc

i use warez p2p, not had any trouble with that, although a friend of mine said he'd had viruses on it, but i've not had any as far as i know

I haven't had the same trouble with Limewire, though one of the things I did do was disable access to my PC, so that may have been the difference.

Oh, and Hubby likes Azureus, which is a BitTorrent client, FWIW.

maybe, although as far as I knew I'd disabled access too, maybe I missed a part :)

Most people that are into hardcore (not sex) file sharing, for software, movies....etc., use a vpn (virtual private network). I don't know a great deal about them other than I have a friend in nashville who connects to one in europe and downloads movies. You need a really fast internet connection. I think he's got 6-8 mbps.

thats my speed - allegedly anyway

gonna buy some virus software then I'll get to downloading I think
