I have them....anyone else have them or care to share their stories?

Sammy was spot on, with the color of every piece of clothing I'm wearing today. Plus she was spot on with the amount of money I have in my wallet.

I shit you not. She could see it.

I'm very impressed. All of this was done through icq.

That girl do have psychic powers. I personally vouch for that.

She knew I only had three dollars to my name too... Now what I am pissed about is that she didn't say I had a hundred... Damn it! Or... Is that the way it works?

Here is a theory! Maybe you are not psychic... Maybe things fall into place the way you want them to be... Or... God forbid! You are subtly controling all our actions!

Are you trying to tell me how this works Ravenloft?

It just works...now, you are lucky I didn't have a death dream about you.

Sammyjo knew EXACTLY when the last time I had sex was. I think she could smell my finger. When I flipped it at Growler.

Sammyjo I love you, but I don't believe in psychic powers. Not even a tiny bit.

I'm a professional magician, and I have never seen a psychic do something that I can't do (and usually better). I think many are fakes, most are deluded, and a very small minority, you maybe included, honestly feel they have a nautral affinity for the psychic arts.

There are too many other reasons why I don't believe in telekenisis, ESP, precognition, tarot readings as divination, astrology, or "second sight" to go into here, and I wouldn't want to because, as the Amazing Randi once said, "People who believe in psychic powers are like rubber ducks -- it doesn't matter how many holes you shoot into them, they'll still float."

There's not a damn thing wrong with believing in preternatural gifts; my mother and my grandmother lay claim to all sorts of abilities like precognative dreams and communication with spirits, and neither has ever hurt anyone, so what's the point in laying into them? But I've seen too many people bilked and cheated and disappointed by clairvoyants to not speak up now and then. This CERTAINLY isn't one of those times, so I'm not attacking Sammjo who makes me laugh, just chimming in from a vantage point that I thought you might find interesting.

You know, Randi's had an outstanding offer for years to pay one million dollars to anyone who can present proof of psychic powers (the money's sitting in bank), and for the two dozen or so years that the offer's been made through his famous Institute in Florida (known to psychics the world over) not only has no one ever won, no one has ever seriously tried. That's astounding, given all the stories about psychic phenomenon out there. No one has even applied. The inference (if not downright deduction) from that is that there are no psychic phenomenon, but merely coincidence, fraud, delusion, ignorance about the laws of probability and chance, and a distinct dearth of critical thinking.

Hmmm. Have I started a big controversy here? I know that the vast majority of Americans believe in some sort of psychic phenomenon, and EVERYONE has a story to show up annoying skeptics like me.

And I love those stories. I know a couple who regularly sees a ghost in their apartment. On a cruise ship I worked the Phillipino crew members refused to go into one ballroom because a ghostly woman who regularly was seen walking down the staircase. For years (as a teenager) I was convinced that I was able to astral project because I could through meditation, "disassociate" myself from my body and float about the room (it felt like death). A man I know saw his father in the wings of a theatre one night when actually the man was dying a hundred miles away. A psychic once laid out my sister's life so perfectly that she went to her for years, often bringing a tape recorder and photos of her family member who she would also read, then send us the creepy recordings.

I love this stuff, which is probably why I became a magician in the first place. I wanted to have power over an unseen plane.

I think we all do.

Not a hit on DCL, just my story....

Believe as you will...Lord knows, I won't try to change your mind. I have had 3 death premonitions...my first, a dream, was when I was 17. A friend of mine got ill during the night, something I knew nothing about, and I had a dream about her. I woke up suddenly, startled by the fact that she was so peaceful, sort of a floating apparition of her. I later learned that I woke up at the exact time of her death. I also had two sort of "out of body" experiences...seeing people close to me dying, or knowing that they were dead. One was my grandpa, the other was my best friend's dad.

...and I did know exactly what Xander was wearing today...not to mention telling two people exactly how much money they had in their pocket...

This could all be coincidence...but I prefer to call it...an ability. I am not charging anyone for anything, or scamming anyone. I only told Xander one thing, and it exploded into this HUGE thing...very cool.

I think it's fun that I can "see" things. And you don't have to believe me if you don't want to...fine by me.

And no, I won't do shows or start doing this for people. I can't see the future of people that I'm not close to...it's not possible for me to predict your life. I will not meet you on Oprah to discuss your long dead relatives...no can do...

LOL! Thanks for refusing to do Oprah!

Here's a funny story. I was at trade show convention for entertainers, doing my act for college kids looking to book their schools, when some girl back stage asked me to do a "trick". Well, I did a head magic bit, having her name a card that I'd already pulled out a deck. Usually I do it as a comedy bit, but something about her made me do it all mystical. I concentrated, read her mind, and she totally freaked. She looked nervous, and asked me what kind of powers I had. I was so tempted to play the clairvoyant. It was so easy. I had so much power at that moment. But I couldn't do it. I explained that it was a trick you could buy in a magic shop for about ten bucks. She didn't believe me. She walked away very slowly, a bit shaken. Wow. Never did that again.

Wow, DCL....I'm sure you freaked the shit out of her...I love that!!!

Okay let me ask this . . . I have dreams about things happening, and it could be weeks sometimes months before it does, but the exact dream I had will happen verbatim. I got to the point where I thought people were thinking I was just saying I dreamed the whole thing once it happened, so now I tell every one about every dream I have just in case it comes true some day, and many have seen a lot of them come to reality. The weird part is, none of these dreams have anything to do with me personally. They are things that happen to others so I have no way of making them happen, just so I can say see I told you. For that matter, I have no way of seeing that they don't happen if it's not a good thing. Which has happened at least 7 times already... I hate when I have those dreams!

Does this make me psychic?

I think you have definite psychic abilities...if you believe in such a thing.
As you can see, not everyone does. As far as I'm concerned, if you believe it, that's all the explanation you need...sort of like religion.

I don't have psychic powers but I do have x-ray vison. Dammit, Dixon! Put that thing away before you hurt someone!

Every one has the power, the ability to forsee the things in life, that some time can not be explained. But it can happen. When some one that i know, and that is very close to me, dies, or some thing bad has happen to them. A single tear will escape from my left eye, other wise no tears will flow from that eye, only my right. So when ever my wife or I see this, we're always waiting for the phone to ring, and it always does.

I was once told I was Psychic, then they changed their minds and said Psychotic so not much changed....if indeed you are sammyjo I wish you luck with developing your extra sensory perception...

Talk about an ancient thread.

And too many things have happened to SammyJo since this thread was started a year ago that she could NOT see- if she was psychic, wouldn't she have known the truth?
