Proto-Deus:Karma and Destiny

This is a sci-fi fantasy RPG. The setting is not truly defined other than the fact that things are in anarchy and constant change as the world races towards destruction or tyranny. There are many forces at work: super-science, psychohistory, psychic waves, cosmic radiation, magick and almost any sort of character is possible. It's Star Wars meets Aeon Flux meets Dragon Ball Z meets World of Darkness meets Steam Detectives meets Lord of the Rings; there is room for just about anything. Try to keep things serious though.

This is both the casting call and game thread, make your primary character and jump in. NPC's can be made on the fly.

Description: Samantha or "Sam" appears to be a young woman in her late fourties (in a society where the average lifespan of a healthy woman is around 375.) Like many people of Sabian stock she has a light coffee color skintone and white hair. From her Iotian father she inherited blue-green eyes. She is of average height and in excellent shape but enormously heavy despite her thin appearance. Her biology has been sufficiantly altered as to eleminate the need to breathe so she always seems rather still when she is just sitting down or resting. She favors clothes that show off her physique but hide the surgical scars on her back.

Abilities: Sam has altered her own physiology to the extreme, her body is so efficiant that it produces no waste and she can metabolize certain drugs and foods to accelerate healing and rest processes. Her bones have been replaced with a super dense organic polymer that replicates the regenerative capabilities of natural bone. Much of her musculature has been replaced with a cybernetic fiber-weave to increase strength and resiliance. Her blood and blood-rich organs are infused with nanites that aid in regeneration, "maintainence" and recycles oxygen with 98% efficiancy, almost eliminating the need to breathe. Her hands are equipped with special computerized systems that "memorize" many mystical hand and finger configurations allowing for faster spellcasting. She majored in Elemental Thaumaturgy in the Iotian Institute for Applied Magick and minored in Chronal Ritual.

Weaknesses: The number of alterations to her body make her both heavy and high maintenence, she spends a lot of money on checkups with cybertechnicians and gene therapists. While she recieved a degree in Elemental Thaumaturgy she is only an average practicioner with a "spell list" rather than "creative flow magic". She uses a number of drugs to augment her abilities, very expensive drugs.

I think I'll do a Blade Runner style character.

Description: Dirk is a caucasian male with dark brown hair and is perpetualy scruffy. He originaly had bright blue eyes, but he had them turned brown as they made him a very recogniseable figure - which is a bad thing in his profession. Average height and build.

Abilities: Not much pyshicaly beyond the normal scope of a human his age. He knows how to throw the knuckles pretty well and is fairly athletic. His real strenth comes from his toys. Dirk is an under the table tester for a mojor arms company, this means they give him prototypes of new weapons they're producing and he reports on thier strenghts and weaknesses. All done very unofficaly of course. On top of that, he is a very skilled marksman.

Weaknesses: VERY xenophobic. Dirk hates everything that isn't human. This hatred can sometimes cloud his judgement when bringing in wanted targets - they sometimes have a tenancy to get errased. Androids he hates the most, the fact that they're an imitation of humans is insulting to him, they stand an extremely high chance of being deactivated if they look at him the wrong way.

What can I say Bunnies scare me. I mean just look at there ears they give me the creeps.

Enhancements: Increadible regeneration, regrows limbs and heals fllesh wounds in a minute or less. Serious wounds also heal faster but can take much longer. He lost his arm once and it took a month to grow back. He also recovers faster from being knoked out. His reflexes and strength have also been enhanced. His reflexes are further enhanced by acute senses. As for the strength well his power is in his legs, he's faster and can jump further and higher then a normal person, but half the world can beat him at arm wrestleing. The goverment did all that. He added a phermone control power himself. He says it's for intimidation but he more often uses a type of phermone to seduce women.

Weaknesses: Well in the physical sense he has a problem of needing alot of food, but only while healing or doing alot of exercise. Mentally he has several. He's Lecherous, and obsessed with parties. Any cute girl will find herself hit on by him and more then likely under the effect of his phermones.

Bio: He worked for the goverment for a while as a soldier. Coarse the american goverment "dosen't use bio soldiers" so for all socail purposes Nicholas Smith is dead, and Klye has nothing to do with America.

On more then one mission Kyl;e got in trouble by drawing attention to himself. What type of morron is supose to attack a base and windes up hiting on the graurd he was supose to avoid? And then the prison gaurd after that? And then the enemy captian while trieing to escape?

Well after a while he was dishornably discharged from the armed forces, for the above reasons. While he was waiting for the armys decision he snuck off base got drunk hit on a senators daughter, this just kinda speed up there desicion makeing.

After he got out of the armed forces he spent more money on getting the phermone enhancement. His luck with the ladys turned when he did it. Over all he'd like to return home but being technicly dead he can't.

Okay okay okay! This is now the OOC and casting thread, I will open another thread to be the game thread. Now I shallow narrow things down a bit.

The universe is similar to the one we "know" in that all the familiar faces are there: Earth, Mars, The Sun, etc. And the histories mesh together somewhat. The difference is that in this universe all the old legends, the old faiths were true. Furthermore, certain accepted laws of science that limited us have been unproven. Men, Fae, Gods, Saints, Cyborgs, Magicians, Hackers, Monsters, and all other imaginable creatures exist somewhere in the universe. Rival powers human and alien alike have sprung around the cosmos using diplomacy and warfare to further their aims.

Now for a bit of Q/A, post some questions and I'll answer them, here are a few samples.

What about Earth?
The Earth was briefly united under one government but the emergence of magick and super science (science that defies the laws of quantum physics and thermodynamics) made it impossible to maintain peace. Divisions on how to deal with alien species and creatures of ancient myth finally tore the United Earth apart.
There are now several powerful nations: The United States of the Americas (encompassing all of North and South America), The Republic of Oceana (Including Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and many Pacific Islands), The Japanese-Teuton Kingdom (Japan, China, Germany, Norwegian countries, and smaller Franco/Germanic states such as Luxemborg and Austria), The Romanov-Bourbon Alliance (France, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe), and New Britain (which consists of the UK, Ireland, Turkey, India, and all of Africa)

Do magic and technology mix?
Yes and no, my own character is an example of a magic-technology mix. It is uncommon and unavailable to most people.

What sort of non-human creatures are there?
This is difficult as some alien races try to pass themselves off as mythical creatures. There are Tolkien-esque beings calling themselves Elves but there are also the industrious shoe-maker elves which some contest are gnomes but gnomes are also confused with halflings. Dragons exist but so do dinosaurs, space wyrms, and other such creatures. Werewolves exist but there are also races of humanoid lupine creatures. Vampires come in so many varities that hunters have to research each one individually least they confront a Chinese Hopping Vampire with holy water and a scion of Dracula with taoist litanies. When someone tells you there race, take it with a grain of salt, sometimes one might not even be sure of it themselves...

Where else do people live?
If it can be made to support intelligent life then someone probably lives there. Heavily populated areas include Earth, Mars, Pluto, all of their moons and the moons of Jupiter. There are also free-floating colonies with artificial positions as well as those which orbit planetoids. Some races are capable of living within stars or in black holes though these are few and far-flung.

How do people fight?
However they can? Though armies maintain the best weapons available to them and tend to be very uniform, primitive peoples or conflicts between small groups could see anything from magic, to lasers, to belt fed machine guns, to psionic energy, mutant powers, even "The Force" so to speak.

Does God Exist?
Yes he does, but he is not the only one. It is true that the god of the Jews, Christians, and Muslims was the dominant proto-force in the Universe for millenia but he was less than honest when telling his prophets the way of things. The gods of ancient Egypt, Greece, and Babylon are now making a comeback and the Hindu dieties are raising their voices. Saints descend upon the enemies of Jehova and ascended mortals like Mary and Confucius grant visions to the worthy. And from beyond Earth come alien gods and beings of such immense power that are gods unto themselves, unspeakable beings like Hastur and Azatoth. Of course the aethiests still protest, saying that these "Gods" are just monsters or magi with secret powers. Who knows what may be true?

Cats, my own character is raiding the Luxemborg Gold Repository, I have no idea if she would like your character as have no idea of what he looks like, Sam would resent the use of phermones and is really the type to go out with a big lech but it is a strange universe.

Also, I have a way of hooking people up with me if they want to form a cohesive storyline.

Samantha is attempting to raise enough money to purchase a fully armed colony for her people, the Sabians which are treated as second-class citizens on Io (she had it slightly better as her father was an official). The Unified Congress of Phobos has agreed to let a Sabian colony orbit their "planet" but the Sabians must produce their own colony and pay the Phobian government the enormous sum of 100,000,000,000 Guilder Credits, So far Sam has raised 10,000,000,000 through both legal (careful investments, charity fundraising, bounty hunting) and illegal methods (pirating, bankrobbing, electronic theft) She has already secured the production of the space station and has a large personal spending fund. The 10 billion represents every credit she has saved to pay off the Phobos government.

You might want your character to assist Sam either as a mercenary or someone who wishes to aid the plight of the Sabian people.

The Japanese-Teuton Kingdom realizes that it's samurai warriors are ill-suited towards capturing this woman and will hire bounty-hunters to catch her.

There are other ways you could get involved, and many more ways not to. Do as thou wilt. Just give me a hollar.
