My pension fund holds shares in hundreds of companies around the world. Am I responsible for the acts of all those companies when I don't even know their names?

I hold shares in several publicly listed companies. From time to time one or other of those companies is accused of offences against human rights, of exploiting workers in developing countries, of paying bribes - how far am I responsible? How do I know if the accusations are genuine, justified, or just baseless allegations?

One company I used to own shares in was a major organisation that wholly owned hundreds of other companies around the world. As far as I was aware they traded responsibily but how would I know if their subsidiary company in Zimbabwe was in collusion with the oppressive government there?

If you have money deposited in a bank, have any form of share holding, you are part, if even a miniscule part, owner of a company.

But then I write stories for Literotica. That might be more interesting if I stood for political office than any of my share holdings.

However one of our City Councilors, when a student, appeared as a stud in several porn movies. It helped to pay for his studies. When an opponent's campaign revealed and distributed the movies, the councillor won his seat with an increased majority. Parts of the UK are more understanding than some puritanical minorities in the US. (And the councillor's movies showed that he was well-endowed. Whether that made him more qualified for City Hall? The voters seemed to think it did.)

We are all sinners, JB. Some folks sin by ignoring their duty at the voting booth. Some sin by taking extravagant "Vacations" at tax payer expense. Some stretch the truth to the point of perversion.

PLAYBOY isn't porn, much, just enough to be titillating.

As for share holders responsibility, Yes, you are what you own. But , it is a small sin. God won't hold you responsible for the actions you don't control. In fact God doesn't care, only people make judgment about your actions.
