Has anyone had any experience with men using progesterone cream? Is it supposed to increase the male libido in the same way it does for women? I'm a middle aged female and the progesterone cream didn't work for me so my doctor switched me to testosterone cream. The testosterone cream applied directly the labia works great and has increased my sex drive. Now I have a bunch of the progesterone cream left over and rather than throw it out, I though I might try a bit on the hubby?

Both men and women need a balance between the two (progesterone/testosterone ). It depends on what your body needs what is going to work for you. As you age, your body produces less, which usually means that for women, progesterone, and for men testosterone, supplements are not a bad thing. What I do recommend you do is research the proper use of these creams for both men and women before just randomly buying and using them.

I'm sorry, but screwing with your husband's hormone levels on your own doesn't sound like a very bright idea to me.

What if his hormones are normal and your experimentation produces ill effects? Is he going to be happy explaining how his wife used the progesterone cream that didn't work for her menopause symptoms to his doctor? Or, worse, what if the progesterone interacts negatively with another condition he has or medication he takes and produces long-term problems?

If either of you think your husband has a hormonal imbalance or could benefit from some kind of supplementation, talk to a doctor about it. Maybe that doc will determine progesterone cream is worth a try, give him a script for it and instructions on how to use the cream you already have on hand. Or perhaps s/he will tell him it's unlikely to be beneficial or could have serious consequences. Either way, it's better to know based on his specific health profile than fool around with it yourselves. :)

Thanks for the advice

Erika,

That sounds like good advice. My husband isn't very good talking to doctors about this type of stuff, but its worth a try. It took him two years to get up the nerve to ask his doctor about ED meds like Viagra LOL. Thanks again.
